Wanting to plan a trip for March 2011 what is the best way to price it all out??? DH wants to know some sort of price before we decide for sure. Since the packages arent out yet...could I just do some sort of estimate...Im talking resort, dining, tickets evrything. Thanks

I suggest you go to the Disney World site and create the packages you are looking for. Then add 5-10% to the cost. It should not increase that much but it is better to budget too much than not enough. I would look at allearsnet.com and look at the hotels pricing. Check to see what time of year this year coincides with the time frame you are looking for for next year. What season (low, peak, summer) and then choose a month in that same season to look at prices in.
I am going in May of next year. I looked at the costs of the room only, tickets, and dining costs for this year and then added a little padding for the price increase next month. I can't wait until they release the packages for next year so I can start planning in earnest.

When I want to do that, I just look at a time of year that is priced similar and go from there. I would use the week between Christmas and New Years, as it is probably similar pricewise. March is heavy for Spring Break and tends to be more expensive. Add maybe $5 per ticket and a couple of dollars to the dining plan you have in mind and I think you can see a relatively good comparison.

You can get room only pricing if you call WDW for March 2011.

I'm trying to do the same thing for 2012... I wanted to have an estimate on prices so I knew if it was even an option and about how much I would have to save up for!
To get my prices, I just looked up what it would cost to go this year during the dates I wanted and then I knew what I would have to have at the minimum. Since you want to go in March, I'm guessing that won't work...
Maybe you can look and see what catergory your dates in March fall under as far as time...peak/moderate/low and then find a time in the next few months that is the same and maybe use that. It might be tricky because hotels will be booked up but you never know...
Sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully some of the other more frequent vacationers on here can give you some better ideas... You've probably already tried the things I suggested!

a time this calendar year which has the same resort pricing (i.e. value, regular, peak, etc. The dates may vary by lelevel of hotel.) as the week you are looking at and run your preferences thorugh the system. I would add 5% to that number for a rough estimate.

That should give you an idea of whether you are in the ballpark or not.

Wow thanks for all the helpful responses. March is peak time but I was looking for a time that isnt so hot and humid without it be winter also.

Another question....to be able to make payments until the time you go do you have to book full packages or could it be say room/dining plan???

If March isn't a particularly special time for you other than the weather aspect, I suggest September. We've gone twice (07, 08) and the weather was fantastic. It's low crowds too so you get to do a lot of things without much of a wait, if any. (we walked right onto Pirates of Carr in the middle of the day)
My DH refuses to go on any vacation unless he can lay in the sun by a pool and he enjoyed it alot. There was the occasional sprinkle of rain, but it's FL, so that is to be expected. It didn't bother us too much since DH grew up in FL and we lived there for a few months, so we're used to it. Just something to think about!

you can book a package with a deposit. last time we booked i believe it was a $200 deposit.

with the free dining promo, you have to pay in full by a certain date. with rack rate i believe you can pay the balance when you arrive.

We went last September and it was still 90 degrees....although yes the light crowds were nice...never longer than a 20 minute wait....the heat was still like summer time

We live about 9hrs north of the mouse in Tennessee so our weather is usually the same here as there...I think things in these parts have started staying hotter longer than it did in 07-08...it is still pretty warm here on Halloween now

You can get 6 months with no interest on Disney packages with a Disney Visa. Just book a room only, you only have to put down one days rate...then upgrade to a package later if you find a deal. That way you lock your in your reservation.
I'm not a big package fan unless they are offering free dining.

Sept is a really nice time, but it can still be hot and humid and you have the worry of hurricanes. We love December, but the weather is hit or miss then as well.

Packages have to be paid in full 45 days prior to check in and room only (no dining or tickets) you pay a deposit of the first night and pay the balance at check-in.
