I am booked on the 14 day cruise Auguest 20th 2005. Our room for the 4 of us was already booked at 12:30pm on May 5th so I think I got in when the prices were the lowest. I thought I would alway be at that Pricing tier so if I added a person or changed categories I would be given that price. But today I called to ask about moving from a 10 to a verandah I was told all they have were cat 6 but the cost was $3300.00 more then I am already paying. I also have the 10% off because we rebooked on the ship with a waitlist for summer of 2005. We do have cabin 5524 but from what I read you canot see much just some light. When we got the room we were happy because we stayed in 5520 before and the view was great. But now after what I have been reading I started thinking about two weeks on the ship. Does anyone now any thing about the pricing teir that I am talking about and how does it really work.

The prices that are effective at the time you booked are the prices you get for those people. If you add anyone later, they are subject to the newer prices.

We did this last year....booked early and got the early booking discount, but about a month out we decided to add my neice. She was more expensive because she was added closer to the time of sailing. Nothing we could do about that except not add her--which wasn't an option.

Is this what you're talking about?

I don't have all the numbers but I do know that the difference between a cat. 7 and a cat. 11 on the reposition cruise was $2,700 early on as we priced both - so your numbers actually may not be too far off. That balcony just costs a lot more!

I don't know about adding people to the room ... but if you switch categories you stay in the same pricing tier (per our TA) ... our cat 7 for 3 people was booked on May 5th, came to $5602 total ... and I know a couple in our group booked at cat 9 and it's about $3100 for the two of them ... not sure what the cat 11 pricing was (we only have one cat 11 in our whole group).

Per the DCL Rep last week -- I called about changing from our Category 5 to a Category 4. At the time it was $1,000 more. He said that I would be able to get whatever price was being offered at the time I booked. However, the rep said that once the new system was activated, anyone calling after that date would have to take the market prices as listed. The new system was put into place beginning last Wednesday and was in effect as of Tuesday of this week.

So now if you change your reservation in any way (upgrade, add someone, etc.), you have to pay the price that anyone else would pay at this time.

Hmmmm....
2 comments. 1) As the others have noted, $3300 between a Cat. 10 and a Cat. 6 might just be about right.

2) You got a SPR for the repo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have ANY idea how many of us were trying for one of those?????????
