Priceline?

I have never used Priceline before. I would like to get a hotel for niagara falls Ontario. I was going to use Groupon I just started looking yesterday and now the groupon that I wanted is already sold out on the dates that I wanted. I thought maybe priceline. It showed a 4star hotel for $62.00. When I pressed what hotel - it said hilton, sheratorn, marriott. What does that mean? Is it really one as good as these for this price? Could it be one of these? How do I know it isn't twenty miles from the falls? Anyone have any experience with priceline? Thank you.

There are a few ways to use Priceline. You can name your own price and not know the name of the hotel until you accept the offer, I've done this prior to kids and never been disappointed. You can also use their lowest price and not know the name of the hotel, similar to the name your own price offer. The hotel will have the features you ask for but often it's for king rooms so I won't do it with kids. I do use the regular Priceline very often. You pick the city and it gives you a list of available hotels and you pick the hotel and the room type just like Orbitz and other hotel booking sites. I have never had a problem. You know which hotel you are getting, where it is and what type of room and how much you will be paying.

Go to www.betterbidding.com and they can give you an idea of what hotel it actually is. But as the PP said, you cannot be guaranteed you will have enough beds if you have more than 2 people.

You can also look at the named Priceline list, sort the 4 stars and you can compare to the guest reviews and ammenities. On the named list it will be so higher price but you can get a good idea

i travel with two teens and use Priceline a lot. I always keep a blow up mattress in case there is only one bed and no pull out. I also usually call the hotel and ask for 2 beds. I've only had a couple times we needed to use the blow up mattress.

I am not sure WHEN you are going but there are a couple of specials right now that have some to my in box lately (I am subscribed to all kinds of travel related emails etc so I get stuff everyday)

This is the latest fairly good deal from Travelzoo but just go to their website and check the Top 20 specials, there may be others that are more suitable for you and I *think* this is in Canadian dollars but not 100% sure

Another good one (this is actually better than above imo) is straight from the Embassy Suites Niagara website simple because the price of food in the little area right by the falls is outrageous, like 50 bucks at Dennys for 2 people for breakfast. This includes your breakfast and coupons for attractions etc. I am pretty sure they just keep updating it each month but I know it is busy in the summer so they may not run decent specials then because they wouldnt have to

You can also try hotwire. That's what we usually use because you can put in if you're travelling with more than two people. We've had excellent customer service from them as well when we had a bad hotel experience (the hotel gave us the wrong room type even though we had our paperwork, upcharged us to give us the room we'd paid for, then the room was dirty and broken and everything smelled like cigarette smoke.). Hotwire gave us the cost of our room back and rebooked us somewhere else.

Anyway, just a thought!

Priceline has their name-your-price bidding, but they recently came out with their Express bidding, which is pretty much the same as Hotwire. For some of the Express bid hotels you can choose your bedding option if you need more than one bed.
