Priceline or Hotwire for DL?

Is it a good idea to book your hotel thru Priceline or Hotwire. I've gotten great deals in Orlando, but have never been to DL before. Just trying to get the best place at the best possible price.

We might be doing priceline to get a hotel unless HOJO gets there Ent. Rate up for our dates. We have used priceline for other hotels but not for DL.

You won't get a better room through Priceline than Hotwire. There is no bidding on Hotwire, but sometimes it is worth the extra $$$ to book a Hotwire hotel because you can sometimes figure out the hotel they are offering. That's where http://biddingfortravel.com comes in. They have hotel lists that match the amenities offered on Hotwire with the hotel name. That being said, Priceline is almost always cheaper than Hotwire. You can look at the Priceline hotel lists to see what has been won in the past, i.e. Hyatt, Crowne Plaza, Doubletree, etc. People have been getting winning bids for the Disneyland area in the $40 range for 3* hotels for the next month or so.

I have never used Hotwire in the DL area before, but have used Priceline a few times. Through Priceline I have gotten the Hyatt for 43.00, the Hilton for 50.00, The Holiday Inn for 48.00. I am going next week and just got the Anaheim Hilton across the street for 52.00, with tax it came to 60.00 and there will be at 15.00 parking fee. It still seems like a good deal at 75.00, and the rooms are nice. With Priceline you never know which hotel you get but I always put 3.5 stars in the Disneyland area and have gotten the three I mentioned above. Good Luck...

I have never used those sites before but now I'm considering it for our anniversary trip in June. We want to stay a week- without the kids. So it seems like it might be worth it to take a chance. Besides, I can't make up my mind where to stay. I'm about ready to throw a dart at a map! I will also be checking out that bidding for travel site. Thanks!

We always use priceline and have always been happy with it. I just make sure to select 3 1/2 stars. We have stayed at the Hilton, Hyatt, and Holiday Inn. Our prices have been between 42-45 dollars. I have never had any problem with it and would recommend it to anyone. In fact DH and I only use priceline now, especially when going to DLR.

Once I used Priceline name your own price and got the Raddison! YUCK! It was very gross and dirity and Priceline listed it as 3 starts. My personal view I would give it a 1. But I don't think that people are winning that since no one has posted about a winning bid for that hotel.

My mistake...while biddingfortravel.com is a good website for dealing with Priceline, http://betterbidding.com deals with Priceline and Hotwire, and has the Hotwire lists.

In general its hit or miss, many of the rooms on Priceline are also available on Hotwire, but generally at a higher price. Priceline is much better IMO, because Hotwire tends to overrate rooms. I've found that some 2.5 stars on Priceline are 3 stars on Hotwire.

Grumble, Grumble I wish I had seen this thread a few hours ago! I just paid $40 for Extended stays and now I see I could have gotten way better for the same price!!!!!

Lesson learned ask for way more on Priceline! BTW thanks for that site I just got another room for this weekend in Beverly Hills for a great price!

I wish I could bid on Disneyland hotel now hahaha!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn and actually loved it. It was just remodeled not too long ago and the rooms were nice, clean, and bed was comfy. Hope that you have a fun trip!

Thanks, Chargergirl, glad to hear the Holiday Inn is looking better. I've never been, but read some reviews that didn't look too good. I'm never too worried though, because people tend to complain more on reviews than to praise.

As far as the question of when to book on Priceline and Hotwire... I'm not sure on Hotwire, but you can start getting the good deals on Priceline about 3-4 weeks out....and I think even more stuff opens up the closer to your trip date. That's the hardest part, being patient and waiting until it's time to "name your price" for a hotel on Priceline.

I just used Priceline this morning and got the Hyatt Regency (3 1/2*) for $42/night for 11/30 - 12/5. I am VERY pleased. Even with $15/night for parking, it is still cheaper than the cheap rooms at Hojo. And the Hyatt has a free shuttle bus that it shares with Crowne Plaza.

I am so jealous!! I want to go!!! We stayed at the Hyatt last time and loved it!!! The kids loved the view as we were almost on the top floor! They loved to look at all the people in the lobby! Have fun on your trip!
