Priceline for car rentals?

Ok, I'm desparate. i have ever had so much trouble with a minivan rental ever! i need a July rental for a minivan in orlando (possibly one way from Tampa to drop off at MCO if it is cheaper) and car rental is taking my trip WAY over budget!!!

I have never tried priceline for a car rental before but have had luck with using it for hotels.

Does anyone have any advise or think it is worth it? What are the risks?

I've always got a better deal with bidding on Priceline over direct from the rental company. Every time at Orlando I've gotten Alamo. Just start low and go up few $ every day.

Have you checked the thread here for July Car rentals? They may have codes/coupons that will bring it down. I know when I need a car, I check the companies daily. I have been using Alamo for my past 3 trips.

I can't help with Priceline, since I have never been able to snag a deal.

Cannot hurt to try, but, you do have to pay upfront and if the price should fall, you cannot change anything to reflect it and you have to go to the counter to check in. You can sometimes check in online, if you have the confirmation number, same applies for the kiosk, but, you definitely cannot go straight to the garage with just the printout from Priceline.
