Has anyone lately rented a car thru priceline. I am wondering what is an accepted price for a mid-size for dates 10/23-11/2. Does $22 a day sound too low?high? I have never used priceline for renting a car and I would love your input. Thanks.

Hi
i rented one for Sept. for one week and had a bid accepted for 17.00 for a full size. This was accepted by Avis and we had a great experience with them in Jan. (also a priceline ressie.)
I can tell you my bid for 15.00 per day for a midsize was rejected but the 17.00 was accepted for a full size (aka standard which is a full size with 2 doors, same rate through Avis). I would start with the 15.00 per day bid. Worst case, you bid for a standard at 17.00 or wait the week till you try again. You sure have enough time.

I think Gail's advice is correct. Start at $15. I would not go higher than $17 unless you are renting for longer than a week (or a very short rental). Right now you can get a full size for $140 (weekly)or under and that is $20/day.

I got rejected at $15 per day for a full size. I feel that going too much higher is not worth losing the convenience of using Emerald Isle. My nine day rental came to $196 or $21.79 per day before taxes.

Don't forget about the $6 fee.

I haven't used Priceline for a car rental yet, but I've had good luck with various hotel reservations. Check out: www.biddingfortravel.com, lots of great tips on using Priceline!
