It is the safety issues in Europe. Until resolved these are going to be reasonable and northern Europe, British Isles and Alaska will be in demand and higher.
I'd say Rome has a target on its back. England too. But still chances of anyone being there when it happens is slim.Weren't the last two terrorists incidents in Northern Europe? I don't see Italy or Spain to be dangerous at all. London has had it's share of incidents over the years. I think 7 day Med cruise are just a dime a dozen. Every cruise line does them every week. There is a lot of competition in that market.
The Med cruises go nowhere near Turkey or Greece. If that's peoples reasoning its a little silly. I won't complain thought I'm always happy to see lower prices whatever the reason.

I don't really buy into the whole color coded terror thing. I think it's pretty stupid. That being said countries in Northern Europe like Germany, and UK are at higher threat level than Greece, Italy, Serbia, even countries bordoring Turkey. I think the financial crisis in Greece last year and the riots may have scared people off from going there, but that seems to have resolved itself at the moment. I think terrorist goal is to go after the western culture anyway.I'd say Rome has a target on its back. England too. But still chances of anyone being there when it happens is slim.
I just want to see Acropolis. That's where most cruise passengers are going to head when they port. The Caribbean is beautiful, but good grief talk about poverty.Greece is a gateway for refugees trying to get to other countries. They don't want to stay in Greece, most of them won't be able to make a living there, so they wait there until they can get someplace else. Many get there and then can't afford to go someplace else. So there's a large transient population at the moment that the country is having problems feeding and sheltering. Cruise passengers want to see pretty scenery. Maybe Disney cruise passengers most of all, given the emphasis on families with young children.
I doubt any cruise passengers would encounter any of these issues, any more than they have always encountered the poverty in Turkey. I almost went broke giving the same woman (with 5 small children) money..every single day..for 2 weeks while in Istanbul, finally a local told me that she is married and her husband sends her out every day with the kids to beg and people will give sympathy money. Apparently is quite common.Greece is a gateway for refugees trying to get to other countries. No idea why Disney does what they do. We moved our Med cruise on Carnival Vista to Oct. I took a small penalty hit, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to see Iceland at this price. There are very few cruises to Iceland. Southern Caribbean cruises are every week on some cruise line. If you can swing it I'd take advantage of the opportunity.ok not seriously...but it crossed my mind.
Here's my question though-
If it apparently isn't selling well in 2016..why raise the price SO MUCH for 2017?
Valid argument that it is subjective. I do not go on vacation to be "served". I do not need someone bringing me drinks or making my bed. Unlimited food makes me fat. I go on vacation to make memories with my family and see new places. Shows and entertainment, yes...we drive to them. We go on excursions every single day. So for me, it is apples to apples. And the cost of the RV is zero. We own it and have a family policy of zero debt. We paid for it in full the day we bought it. So I guess for some, they go on a cruise for the convenience of it all and to be waited on and treated like a VIP. Our goal is quality family time and seeing new places and its achieved for a lot less in our RV.
More accurately would be 80-100k...lolUnless you stole the RV or someone gave it to you, it had a cost. This is equivalent to me taking 30k out of my checking account to get an AMEX gift card, using that card to buy the cruise, and telling you my cruise had no cost, because I just used a gift card I already had. In any event, seems you've made the right choice for your family. So that's good.
My Southern Caribbean is on Carnival..1st time with them. It was "free" from my casino...I paid the difference to upgrade to a balcony as well as port fees, taxes..and obviously flights/excursions/gratuities/etc. Leaves out of San Juan..,.don't know if I'll love the ship..but I love the itinerary!!!!!!No idea why Disney does what they do. I agree. And there is no way of knowing what will happen anyway. If I was interested in going to any of these places, terror threats would not stop me. They are definitely going after western culture, and the last I heard isis said coming soon: Washington DC.I don't really buy into the whole color coded terror thing. I think it's pretty stupid. The US government has issued a travel advisory to US citizens for all of europe citing especially terrorists attacks on transportation and tourist infrastructure. Saw that delta has suspended all flights to Brussels. In England specifically, Isis has threatened large attacks on London.Just to say where are you getting the terror level from? just wondering as you are claiming uk is on high alert and it's not any higher than has been before terror attacks in Europe recently. Also the referendum on whether to stay in the EU would have effected our levels due to uncertainty. Just don't understand how our level is higher than Serbia. Italy maybe
