Local newpaper contained an article about the DVC @ Aulani and the cost. What are the current cost per point and fees/dues per point?

I don't have the current numbers because sales have been halted due to legal reasons and there might be a price change, but for us it's the taxes, and high cost of everything else that keeps us from buying.

Here are some of the prices that have been reported:
Refillable drink mug is close to $35 dollars each, a croissant, bagel, 1/2 cup of cornflakes, yogurt parfait, orange juice, 2 coffee's $29, a turkey BLT (not real turkey) soup and salad $42 and they add a 20% gratuity to your bill.

Plus you really have to love the resort and Hawaii, one resort, no MK, DHS, AK, or Epcot.

You got to remember in Hawaii 80-90% of the stuff we take for granted on the homeland is imported. So the price will be higher. Joe

The article addressed the halting of sales, and it indicated that according to the Orlando Sentinel, three executives lost their jobs over the established pricing (meaning fees and point costs). I've only ever been to Hawaii once, we loved it, but I'm not at all interested in points there. I'd use my BW points there if I could, but from the east coast, the main cost would be getting there and back. I was just curious about the cost because the article mentioned them but didn't list what they actually were.

Aulani was selling for $120 per point with some additional incentives based on the number of points purchased. Dues were originally set at $4.31. Dues for those purchasing once sales begin again will reportedly be higher but those early purchasers will keep a subsidy for their dues.

1) Plus, the Hawaii state tax - each and every year when you stay.
2) 7.25% occupancy tax of the fair market value of the time share.
3) This is not included in the maintenance dues. *

* Fair market vaule is 1/2 the daily gross maintenance fees.

For our stay in October 2011 - 1 Br, 4 nts, mixed OV and IV - the tax was around $7.50 per night. +/- $30.00 for four (4) nights - all I was looking for was an order of magnitude estimate - were the taxes - $10.00, $100.00, or $500.00 for the stay. I might have made another decision regarding staying there if the taxes were going to be more than $100 for the stay.

There was some confusion around both the stay tax-point structure and how they were to be paid for with regards to member services. One CM could not "calculate" the taxes, and then stated that she was "required" to take a credit card at the time the reservation was made. Both statements turned out to be incorrect - the CM's have access to both 2011 and 2012 Aulani tax tables (by room type, by view type), and you are NOT required to put a credit card on file to pay for them at the time of the reservation.
