Price Increase

My plans for DL this year are so up in the air right now that I don't dare buy tickets. I'll just have to suck it up and pay the higher price later on.

i am in limbo with my deluxe AP -- it doesn't expire until May 3rd and I have plans on renewing but I can't renew now b/c i am not within the 40 day window.
If i just buy a new AP today and redeem when I go back to the parks on May 9th I lose out on the renewal discount -- expiry date is irrelevant for me
Any advice? WWYD? wait to renew or buy new?

I'm in the same boat. Except mine is the Signature and my DH and DS's are all Deluxe. Ours expire mid April. But we're also on the payment plan which is also an issue if they start to disallow it. If we can't do payments, we'll have to start saving for next year - if it's even worth it then.

MiceAge's website is working better today. Here is what it actually says, "RUMOR PATROL – This may be your last week to buy an annual pass with the monthly payment plan option. All signs point to new annual pass pricing rolling out this coming Sunday. The good news is that prices shouldn’t be going up very much and in some cases may even be cheaper than current prices (on renewals). We know the park has been struggling with how to deal with pass holder overcrowding at the resort and payment plans are seen as the main culprit. It’s very likely that the payment plan option will either be completely removed or only remain available for renewals. This is a good time for you to buy that pass or renew . . . just in case."

That makes it sound like if you wait to renew you may actually get a better price.

That's the same excerpt I read yesterday. Doesn't really say if current payment plan AP holders will get to continue making payments and just stopping new ones or what. We won't be renewing, unfortunately, if we can't make payments. Not going to throw a pity party - just going to have to save up or find other means of entertainment. We have plenty of people to get us in that work there but it's not the same when you're on someone else's schedule.

I was scratching my head a bit over that claim and noticed that in the comments section after the article the author of the article seemed unaware of the availability of current renewal discounts, so I wouldn't hold your breath on renewal prices getting better. Seems reasonable to me that we might not see a huge price bump, so I'm not sure I personally would worry over that part of things. We have never been interested in using the payment plan option, but I can see how that is a game-changer for many and am interested in if that part of the rumor pans out.

He wasn't aware of current renewal discounts? How odd! I didn't read the comments as there weren't any when I read it yesterday morning; their website was being wonky yesterday so people were likely having trouble just getting to the article. It's nice to know that we're not looking at huge increases of $50+ per pass. I am curious how the price increase will turn out.

Can anyone speculate whether they would wait to increase the ticket prices after the expiry of the Canadian 25% ticket offer on Feb 28th?

It appears that at times, things are implemented after a certain offer.

Or is that completely irrelevant?

I am not on a payment plan so that doesn't matter to me
I saw the "cheaper than current prices (on renewals)" statement which makes me think i should wait to renew
Is it a $40 discount on the deluxe renewal?

We're headed there for a day in October but the one day passes are only available until the end of June... I guess we are out of luck? :(

If they expire in June then you wouldn't be able to get a discount by buying now. You'd have to pay the difference. Are you sure they're not good until December 2017? Although every dollar saved helps, the day by day passes tend to not rise as significantly as the AP prices. APs were going up $50+ per ticket and the other tickets were going up a few dollars a ticket. Though the one day ticket it seems has gotten very expensive over just the last few years.

The way I read the terms for the one day tickets, if you purchase a one day ticket now, it won't expire until 31 December 2017. Disney hasn't released dates past June for Value, Regular, and Peak tickets, though, which means you'll be guessing a little bit at what level of ticket you need.

So are they expecting AP's to increase in price then? Sounds like yes?
I'm wondering if I should buy our AP's now even though our trip isn't planned until December (so we won't get that extra month on the AP offer).
I hate the gambling game, lol. I usually buy 5 day park hoppers at a discount, then upgrade them to AP's after a couple days in the park which ends up savings us about $200 on the AP (2 adults, 2 children, purchased from lmtclub)....but if AP's go up by $50 a piece then I guess it is a wash.

I'm going to have to remember to stalk DisBoards and the Disney Blog on Friday/Saturday to figure out the best plan of action...I hope they publish what the increase will end up being so I will be able to make a calculated decision.

We are in the exact same boat. We let our Deluxe APs expire in November. We usually just wait until the next trip, buy 5 day passes and upgrade (this is especially true when we want to go on a "blocked out" period because we can use the 5-day passes for those day and then just upgrade at the end of the trip).

BUT- we are going to purchase AP passes today or tomorrow given the anticipated price change AND the fact that as long as you purchase your AP by February 11, you have a year to actually activate them at the park and get the extra month (I called and confirmed today). The time will start running (on the 13 months) on the date you ACTIVATE it at the park, not the date you purchase it.

So, in your case, as long as you buy the passes online by February 11, you can activate them in December 2017 and they will be good until January 2019!

Say what? Everything I read about the 13 month offer said they need to be activated by 11/18/17...I might be off by a day or 2, but I know the activation date is mid November....there is another thread on disboards where that same answer....hmmmm!

And we are in the exact same boat, November was when ours expired too!

https://disneyland.disney.go.com/offers-discounts/13-months/

It says annual passport purchases, not vouchers (although it doesn't say activation)

Hmmm....now that you mention it, I do remember seeing something about a November activation in reading these threads, but that is not what the rep said on the phone. I clarified that about 3 times.....but I would go by what is in writing and not what a rep said. Off to look for the fine print......

Help 1st Disneyland visit this summer on the way to Aulani. We are staying at GCV.
I see price increase possible.
We will need a 3 day park hopper for 4 people. Didn't think about buying ahead because no magic band and advanced fastpass.:o

Should I buy online now and do I redeem at hotel? Or has to be the parK?
And do they expire if not used?
BUT My airfare to LA and Hawaii from NY is booked so we are going:lovestruc
Thanks
Kerri

Ugh. I'm still up in the air on if I'm upgrading to a Premier. I didn't end up doing it when I was at DLR a little over a week ago, but I did talk to them about the cost of it at the ticket booth. System popped up just showing my Sig+ with the 13 month promotion, but not showing that I used a Premium voucher to obtain it so they said it would only be about $440 to upgrade. Figured I'd just take care of it at WDW when I'm there next week.

I was holding out until I could talk to my friend's mom about coming out to visit next January and run the Dopey again. But circumstances have changed and she may not be able to run at all with me any more :(. And that trip would be the only thing that would make a Premier worth it. She may still be okay with it (even though I'd be sad not running with her), but I wanted to talk to her in person about it.

Guess I'm just crossing my fingers the rumor is delayed if true or is not going to be a huge increase.
