Price increase on Grocery Service

I just noticed the service charge went up to $10 at all DVC resorts.

Not to sound cheap, but bear in mind that's on top of the very high prices they charge for all items.

My question is, without a rental car, what grocery delivery services do you recommend and how does it work?

I usually have a rental car, but order from Garden Grocer anyway, for convenience. WeGoShop is the other service most folks use. They are both well-regarded; the big difference is ordering model. GG has "select from a menu of choices". WGS has you generate a (specific) list of things to shop for. I find the menu simpler to deal with. Others prefer the control you get with the WGS list.

I prefer We Go Shop. It is much cheaper as they shop at the store you desire (for example WalMart) so you are paying the actual price, not the inflated prices from a list.

We've used Garden Grocery quite a few times. Like them
When we went in May, they did have a delivery surcharge because of the high gas prices, not sure how long it will last.

I've used We Go Shop several times. I've even had them deliver twice during our longer stay (10-14 days). I like being able to name specific brands of items, etc., so this service fits me better than GardenGrocer. A couple years we've been there for my daughters' birthdays. They've been able to get Carvel ice cream cakes for us. They've even done extra stops for me (small fee) to pick up bagels at Einstein.

I agree with Brian, both services are reputable and have their fans.
I prefer Wegoshop.com. We have used them 5 times and will be again in October. I prefer to make my own list rather than shop a virtual Aisle. They will also shop at the store you select, including Sam's Club if that matters.
You receive the original store receipt and the cost of the items is the actual cost. Garden Grocer marks each item up and has a minimum order amount. But their delivery fee is lower. I think it comes out in the wash, cost wise.
I have been very satisfied with wegoshop and I recommend the.

WeGoShop is a more personable experience too. When I used her service, Marge delivered right to our room for us, and handed me the actual store receipt. She also shopped at a couple different stores for me. I will be using WeGoShop again.

No positive comments about "the other service" which I have used and observed, so I'll play nice and stop here.

Either way, even if cost weren't the driver, I would order from one of those services before doing a DVC grocery stock; DVC's "shopping list" is quite limited. If DVC will actually *stock* your unit, though, it could still be worth doing. I don't know if they do this or not, but during a recent stay at Vistana, we ordered their Breakfast Pack, and it was placed in the fridge/cupboards before we even arrived. Not having to take delivery and put everything away was a very nice way to get a vacation started.

We used wegoshop. We like that, unlike garden grocer, wegoshop shops where you want & they get the brands you want.

Leave it to Disney to charge you an additional $10 for the priviledge of being price gouged on a limited selection.

yes, the absolutely stock the room as soon as it's ready...you're in the park waiting to get the text to tell you the room is prepared and by the time you get there, the shelves and fridge are stocked. It's very nice, but pricey.

I do agree that you are going to get a better selection outside of Disney. However, their price list is very comparable to Garden Grocer. GG has Disney beat by 10-50 cents on most, but not all things. However, the difference was not as much as I expected. (That's according to the price list on the DVC site right now.)

Yes, the $10 delivery fee is a lot, but if you're in a pinch running down to the resort store isn't as much as you might think.

Which is why I prefer we go shop. It is the actual price of an item not the inflated convenience price.

never used a service but may try one. It will save us the checked bag fees to bring down our booze and a lot of other items. Do they buy booze?

We have taken a cab to Winn Dixie in the past and the liquor store that is right in front of it. it was $30 round trip split two ways so not all that bad :)

We love wegoshop....I love being able to get the same brands as we do at home. I also like getting to see the receipt from the store(s). We have always had great luck with them.

A PP asked if they will buy booze.....the answer is yes. Just let them know what you want.

Have a fantastic time!

we use wegoshop also - but I work with the Publix since they put their ad online, I shop from that ad - and our experience has always been above and beyond -

(we order beer and wine- again we bought what was on sale in the online ad - one time dh wanted Sam Adams and told them to buy anything other than lite beer - it was the best Sam Adams he'd ever had!! ) and one year we had weather issues, was able to call and let them know - they were so easy to work with! (ok I'll add, I forgot what kind of coffee filters we would need for the coffee maker - they knew and took care of us!!)
