Price increase -- It's Here! (2/11/20)

Yikes to the maxpass increase. I'm a maxpass loyalist, but $20 a day per ticket is steep. With that increase, I would say it can make more sense to do maxpass is you have parkhoppers. If not, I would only get it if you know the day is super crowded. If you get there early, you can get through 5-6 rides with minimal waits without any fastpasses.

At $20 a day it is certainly a different equation than at $10/day (or even $15). If you're using it casually it's worth, what, maybe 2 extra rides per day vs pulling the old fashioned way? That doesn't make a ton of financial sense for APs who go all the time nor for people traveling in with 3+ day tickets.

It makes the most sense to me at that price point for people with 1 or 2 day tickets who are willing to go hard and who won't be back for a while.

After this trip, I think we might go back to our old FP collection method where I ran around the park all the time with our tickets. For a family of 4, that's $80 extra per day. It was a steal when it was $10/ticket ($40/day). And I could mentally handle it at $15/day. But at the $20/day price point, I think that's too high. Especially when you add $25/day parking on top of it and all the rest.
I agree, $20 is a hard mental pill to swallow. I love me some max-pass, but since I'm usually packing 6 people in that's now over $100 extra per day. $75 $90 I could handle...$120? Not so much.

Edited for math before coffee...

People will pay. It doesn't seem to matter how much anything costs or how crowded the parks are. People pony up and pay.

I've actually only purchased MP once and only used it for one ride. I have already decided (before this increase) that when I renew my AP, I am getting the most expensive one that already has MP on it. I can't stand the idea of paying for MP per day, but for some reason paying a giant chunk of money ahead of time is easier for me.

Ugh to the MaxPass and AP increases.

I wonder what these ticket tiers are all about?

Thank goodness I have the family's tickets with MP on them already. Now I just need to increase my budget for the trip by $5/day... ugh... At this rate, when I renew my FlexPass, I'll HAVE to add MP onto it or it would be more expensive to get it a la carte as I'll be going twice next year too! That's quite the money grab - increase the price of the pass by $120, then increase the MP price too.

Didn’t the flex pass “only” go up $50?

I just purchased the last 3 tickets I still needed for my family through UT at the old price. Then I added insult to injury by looking the old email files from previous trips. I paid $186 for a 3 day hopper in 2011. The increases are just too astronomical. December's DL trip will be the last for us for a while. I guess it's hello Hawaii next year 🤷.

Our 4 day hoppers with maxpass for 2 kids and 2 adults jumped like $150..

Debating buying today. Get away today has the old prices. Decisions decisions.

Yes, I must have scanned the chart incorrectly. Nevertheless, the MP add-on is $125, right? So that's a total of another $175 I need to find, and then add in exchange rate (which totally sucks right now)... blah. I'll still do it, of course, because the price of tickets and merch and food are always going to increase.

Tickets At Work still has the old prices - 5-day hoppers with maxpass and tax (yes I know I shouldn’t pay tax) was $1801 for two adults two kids.

Uggghhh, and here I usually recommend buying Maxpass day-by-day. 😭

I honestly didn’t think they would raise it given how last year went. I guess they’re determined to keep bleeding money from the people who are there since attendance is not what they were hoping for, but good grief. Do not like.

The ticket/AP increases aren’t too ridiculous, but Maxpass is a blow IMO.

Seems to be they are making things so much more confusing with all these tier things but maybe its just me.
I'm totally lost, but I guess I don't need to worry about it since I have an AP. Some of those tiers have so many blackouts I think it would be easier to say when they can be used vs. when they can't, but maybe it's just my brain that operates that way.

It does sound like a lot for MP, but when you compare it to other parks and their "skip the line" tickets (which don't skip the line, but just have priority), the price isn't unreasonable. Of course, at DL, we've already paid really big bucks to just walk into the park. So, any add on starts to feel ridiculous. I have always thought they would eventually make it cost more to ride the rides. Not sure if they are really going that direction, but all these baby steps seem to be going that way.
