We are supposed to go next week and spend 4 nights at BC. This is a paid-in-full trip that was originally planned for 3/20--the week Disney shut down. We have postponed it many times, hoping to get to a point that we felt that was safe to go. We are once again having to make the decision on going or postponing. My issue is that the price has gone up each time we postpone, and just from our current trip to rescheduling to next spring, it goes up $1000! I know there's likely an upcoming promotion that will reduce the price, but that's a hard pill to swallow.

crowds are small right now. Covid numbers are tanking in Florida. To be honest, not sure when it will be any "safer" to go as nobody has a clue what variant is next. We went last Dec. and are going again this Dec and I felt totally safe last time albeit everyone was masked. IF you are all vaxxed or all wear your masks indoors and out, I would say now is one of the safest times actually.

I agree now would be the safest with the lower crowds. We canceled our end of August trip and now I wished we had gone. We have friends who just got back and crowds were low.
We are now booked for the beginning of December. I have canceled 3 times already! I’m getting to the point where I’m going, covid or not!

Yep, this is a dilemma a lot of people are facing. The prices of everything at WDW have jumped a lot. So far no future discounts except AP & Florida resident rates for mid December & hotels are pretty fully booked anyway. Judging by hotel availability for next year, discounts might be slim again.

We just returned from a week at YC. We are mid 60s, DH has a medical issue that makes him high risk, but we are both still working & fully vaccinated since January & February. We did have other trips this year, in mid March, late April & mid June. But the very high numbers of the Delta variant & the fact that we are both up against the possible booster time frame made me more nervous this time. We finally decided to go about 10 days before we were to leave. One reason is who knows what will happen with the next variant. Avoiding Disney Springs & crowded busses was a big help. We did eat in both quick service & sit down restaurants. Le Cellier was the only 1 that made me really nervous, but DH loves it, so we kept that one. Counter service is much better with mobile ordering, no standing in a packed register line waiting to order, pay & pick up.

We wore our masks even outside, although most people didn’t. Inside buildings I would say everyone followed the mask on rules. I did see masks below the nose everywhere, but most were worn correctly. Maybe 95% worn correctly. We did Boo Bash after hours, hoping to avoid crowded busses & rope drop crowds. But the buses were full going / returning to Boo Nash anyway. Rode small world, Jungle Cruise & Pirates with a full boats, shared vehicles in other rides & stretching room at HM was at least half full. So that didn’t work the way I had hoped.

So far we feel fine, I did do a home test this morning because I needed to see my elderly mother today. So far negative. We were originally booked at rack rate. I was able to find a room with the 25% off promo. And literally 7 days before our trip, I was able to find a discounted YC room on Priceline. It was a VIP deal with no cancellation allowed. But by that time we had decided we were definitely going. It was over 50% off. Yes, over 50%. Full price was $5300, Disney’s 25% discount was $3600. I paid $2000 on Priceline. Same waterview room category. So if you’re comfortable with Priceline or Hotwire, you can find some good prices there. We are booked with family members for the anniversary weekend. So far, still planning on going. But we’ll wear KN95 masks & amp up our vitamins. And we will play it by ear & leave the park if we feel too uncomfortable. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for everyone's insight, as we are struggling with this decision. We are a mom (50s) and daughter (20s) both fully vaccinated.

We did Priceline last time and it worked out great...we had a water view room in BC for way under the Disney cost. When we originally booked this trip (eons ago!) there was no Priceline availability for our dates.

I’m planning to go in late October. Although I can cancel up to a few days before I’m thinking it will be okay. I hope they will still be requiring indoor masking as even though I am vaxxed I know many people out and about aren’t. The only way to keep them masked is to require everyone to mask.

Next week? You mean the week of September 19-25?

Definitely go now. You might never see crowds this light again.

Perhaps pick a less expensive time of year? Mid September end of January maybe? If you modify to spring break it's a peak time and the prices are higher.

I went twice last year and again in May this year. I did not have any issues and did not come down with COVID.

I’m planning to go in late October. Although I can cancel up to a few days before, I’m thinking it will be okay. The curve seems to be trending down. Although Florida’s numbers are bad, my state’s are even worse. Disney seems to be making at least some effort to keep their patrons safe. I hope they will still be requiring indoor masking as even though I am vaxxed I know many people out and about aren’t. The only way to keep them masked is to require everyone to mask.

Agreed. WDW mask rules are the only reason I’m comfortable going. If they drop those we will cancel. If they mandate vaccines and/or testing we’re going to book a 2022 trip.

My wife and I did all four parks in February, before we were eligible to be vaccinated, and we enjoyed our trip. I don't know what the capacity limits were at the time, but we were able to do everything we wanted to do without waiting too long. At the time, masking was mandatory inside and outside. If you are fully vaccinated and still have concerns, you can wear your mask for some extra peace of mind. Things are going to get better and/or people are going to move on despite the pandemic, so crowds are only going to increase.

I can handle testing as I’m driving in from another part of FL. I’m vaccinated so I’m okay with that but I would have to be reassured that there weren’t too many loopholes for the unvaxxed to slip in.

Tanking isn't quite apt in my opinion. Yes it has dropped for one week before labor day. It is still at or above the highest points in January, and the death count is 2x the highest from Jan and still climbing. Likely there will be a bit more of a slow down until end of October/November, but tanking doesn't quite do justice to the situation imo.

On the other note, my family is going. SO....yea.
