Price Increase-Crystal Palace, $30.99

Too bad-- all these price increases and removal of foods make me sad.

Yeah, I miss the good old days before the dining plan but what can you do but go with the flow? We won't pay those prices or go on the plan so we stay and eat offsite now. That's pretty nice, too.

The cost of character meals is getting high for us. Next trip it may be out of budget.

:

:confused3 I don't know, I thought the OP said it was'nt. Who knows?

It apparently wasn't the upcharge, assuming the "holiday" dates I've seen posted are accurate. I just thought, considering the price, that it was. (thus the scared smiley :) )

Well, guess where we are NOT going to have dinner again? :scared1:

DS12 will eat a scoop of mac & cheese, a roll, MAYBE a chicken strip or a slice of pizza, and a handful of grapes. NO WAY is that worth $32 + tax and tip!

We did the DxDDP for part of our trip this year and we lost a TON of money. We aren't doing any dining plans again. We'll use the DDE card and eat at places with a menu instead of buffets.

Yep -- same for our boys. Some mac and cheese and a few chicken nuggets. Sorry, not for $31 plus tax and tip. We'll got to a signature restaurant instead.

That's one of the great things about Disney. There are so many choices that some people go to the buffets and some go to the signature restaurants. We went to lunch at the Biergarten restuarant in the Germany pavillion at Epcot, and there was so much food and the price was reasonable. Trails End Buffeteria is also a good choice. For lunch, when we are not real hungry, we go to the counter restaurants and get the double cheeseburger, and ask for an extra bun. This way we get two burgers, and can load them up at the fixin's bar. I, for one, think people eat way too much when at Disney anyway. But thee are ways to cut corners and still get plenty to eat.

Bah. Everything is increasing nowadays. :sad2: Guess it's gonna have to be breakfast/lunch for here from now on!

We been talk and are trying to do more lunch times on out upcoming june trip. Maybe one or 2 dinners but mostly lunch times.

With the rise in cost of these character meals, the rise in the cost of the DDP will sure follow. I wonder, just how much the public will pay for the DDP before they will stop purchasing it? How high can it go?

Frankly, I don't care about getting "plenty to eat". I like high quality food. That's why we're down to dining only at the signature restaurants. The rest have declined so much in quality -- and had such ridiculous price increases -- we won't bother. And, when I'm to the point that I have to ask for an extra bun and fill up on the fixin's bar offerings to save money -- I'll just stay home!

WDWInfo (link to Dining at top of this page) needs to update their site also because it still shows $27.99.
I don't think they will, without written proof. If somebody can submit a menu (see the e-mail link on any menu page), great. Otherwise I think we'll have to wait until one of the site administrators confirms the increase - by visiting the restaurant.

Note that the menus you see online are unofficial. "WDWinfo.com says the price is $27.99" therefore isn't an accepted argument for paying the lower price.

The high buffet prices make the DDP look really appealing. I've only used the plan when it's free, but would seriously consider paying for it, with the cost of the buffets being what they are.

That's an excellant point. I think the sites, here and All Ears, do a great job of keeping the menus as up to date as possible, but they are unofficial, and while they are great planning aids, one should not be so suprised if there are a few things incorrect or unupdated.

Well,I for one like plenty of food, and lots of choices!!! They can keep those little plates of "QUALITY" food with the little drizzle and sprigs of trees they put on those plates, and save it for the "GOURMET" LOVERS!!!:rolleyes1 Give me and mine the buffet-We can all find something that we like, and I don't have to ask the server-WHERE'S THE REST OF MY FOOD!!!! By the way, down here in the "Big Easy",our "REGULAR" food is probably just as good,if not better than that "SIGNATURE" restaurant cuisine!!!:rolleyes1 VIVA LE DIFFERENCE!!!:woohoo:

Wow that price went up....we ate there in August and the food was great except for the terribly salty soups and the tasteless desserts. I think we will just stick to breakfast at the CP and go elsewhere, maybe resorts, for dinner on our MK nights

Music to Disney's ears!!!!!! Or Mickey's ears!

I tend to use the buffet price to decide if the DDP is woth buying. I figure that's as average Table Service meal price. So maybe they are trying to make the DDP more attractive.

It's working for me, even the $70 cost for the deluxe plan doesn't seem too bad. That pretty much is the cost of a signature meal, and gives you an extra meal, as well as snacks and the refillable mug.

kaytieeldr - I never said I was arguing about trying to get a lower price:confused3 Where did you come up with that idea:confused3 One of my follow-on posts mentioned that I didn't even say anything at the restaurant, I called dining the next day!! I was just wondering why the difference.

If you will notice on my original post, I was not going by the prices on the websites but based on what I was told when I made my reservation. I was told by the CM that it would be $27.99. I was not complaining about the information on the websites just wanted others to be aware that the price had increased.
