I checked the website this morning as I was considering upgrading our room type, and the price has gone down. I tried calling to see if I could switch, but they said no. Is that typical of DLP? In California if a lower offer comes out they let you re-book.

Stuff like that drives me crazy!:furious:

Call the french guest services number and try again. Its fairly normal for you to have to try 2 or 3 times before you get to upgrade under a new offer. keep trying!

So is the upgrade cheaper than what you've already paid?

When prices went down for my last trip I was able to upgrade for about £40 when orginally the difference was about £200.

If you're giving them more money then it's not an issue at all.

Even the upgraded room under the new pricing is about 58 pounds cheaper than what I have already paid; if I compare my standard room booking to the new pricing it's 81 pounds cheaper.

I should have asked when I booked. Because I know they do this at DLR in California, it never occurred to me that that would not be the case here. I've called twice and gotten the same response.

Can you upgrade even further?

Maybe look at the prices for the Hotel New York or SL Golden Forest rooms?

Or add a character meal or something?

Even if you can just find a way to make it £5 more then you're winning. :)

Last year we upgraded from NPB to HNY. Would've lost money but instead what I did was added on a meal plan. They're usually not good value at DLRP but adding that plan meant I got the upgrade and all my meals for hardly anything.

We'll find a way round it for you. You just need to be giving them more money - it's an offer Disney will never turn down! ;)

Those are excellent ideas. They said that I can only upgrade using the same offer, not with a new offer. I'm wondering if I try tomorrow when the offer I booked on is over, I may be able to do something. That way that old offer's pricing won't be applied?:confused3

Definitely phone the French number instead of the advertised number for the rest of the world.

The man I spoke to in France was really helpful when this happened to me. I managed to upgrade from the Sequoia Lodge to a lake view room in the Hotel New York with half board. I paid a small bit extra HOWEVER the man did offer to refund me the money I had already paid. When I said I didn't think I would be able to do it he said (in a very French way) 'Of course! You are still more than 6(?) weeks away from arrival date.' However, as I had already paid in full it didn't bother me adding the half board and upgrade on - felt like I was getting it for nothing! :)

This is exactly how we felt! Would never normally buy a meal plan at DLP but we upgraded to Admirals Floor rooms at Newport Bay by adding the half-board plus meal plan for a very small extra charge.

Good luck and definitely phone the French number 00 33 1 60 30 60 53 otherwise you're talking to someone in Florida!

ETA: Oops just realised I've given you the number when dialling from the UK, the number you need is 0 1 60 30 60 53 but you will need to input the dialling code from Canada in front.

This is really strange because if you're outside 60 days of arrival you can make any changes you want without penalty so the offer shouldn't make any difference at all. :confused3
In the past I have downgraded from Hotel New York to Cheyenne under the same offer and in January this year I changed our March trip to July downgrading from Sequoia to Cheyenne under a totally different offer to the one I booked under.
Hoping for a 40 or 50% offer in the coming weeks when I'll be asking to upgrade back to Sequoia or similar.

And I've always made the changes using the number on my booking confirmation.

If it is an upgrade rather than rebooking your current room / hotel under the new offer yes you can do it. Just ring up and say you want to upgrade. I done this for our February stay and got the price difference refunded back to my card of £138.

Thank you all so much for your replies. With the time difference 8 hours ahead I have had trouble calling in but I am going to try tomorrow and I hope to get it sorted out. Do they speak English on the French line?

ETA - Just tried the number above and it is in English! I will try upgrading to the "Golden something" room, maybe - or adding a meal plan. It seems very un-Disney to not let me do that!

I called the French number today and they changed it for me to the lower priced package, so I was able to get most of a meal plan paid for with the credited amount! :cool1:

Thank you so much for your help, DISers! You rock! pixiedust:

Maybe I should have upgraded to the new Golden Forest rooms? There's still time!

Those are new, so I guess there's no reviews of whether or not that is worth it yet...

How much extra was it?

I'd love to try them so would definitely do it. :)
