Price for the Grand Canyon Skywalk?

Inlaws are going to the Grand Canyon in a few weeks and said that to get up to the Skywalk it was like $150 per person. Is this true? I looked online and there was a fee to get into the park or something like that ($40) and then ($30) to go onto the Skywalk. That comes up to around $70 for me.

One thing to remember about the Grand Canyon Skywalk....It is located on the Grand Canyon West area of the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon West is about a 3 hour (or more) drive from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

As for prices....I think your numbers are correct.

I think it depends what package you do as to what the cost is. We went last year but we got a package that included a helipcoter flight out there and a few other things. All I can say is that it was a huge let down!! The place is so busy, you are taken to and from various points on a bus and the actual skywalk doesn't really hang that far over the canyon.

You walk on, have your picture taken at 3 different points then you are off. When we were on the photographers were encouraging people to jump for their photos so the bridge was vibrating too. I didn't mind this but a few people on there were not happy about it!.

Do they make you wear booties?

Yes you have to wear the booties so you don't scratch the glass (you have to wear them inside out so the bobbly grip bits on the bottom aren't scratching the glass either!). You are also made to put your bags in a locker and empty all your pockets so you are not allowed to take anything at all onto the bridge with you.

It costs $43 for the Legacy pass that you must purchase as you go through the gates. Then for adults it is $30 to walk on the Sky Walk.

In May I rafted the Grand Canyon. As we floated past the Sky Walk the guide pointed it out to us. It's actually not over the Grand Canyon. It hangs out over a side canyon.

From what I could tell the views you get from the South Rim are just as spectacular as what you will see from the Sky Walk. (And it's much less expensive! $25 per car.) Unless you want to see the canyon under your feet I would recommend sticking to the traditional view.

I learned that recently somewhere. I was told its so nothing would be dropped & damage the glass. Its probably to help pay for the project too by selling more photos.

And no shoes, just the booties, to also protect the glass from being etched from sand on bottom of shoes.

ITA, judging from those photos the views from the South Rim are much better. We went 2 years ago near Thanksgiving and stayed for 2 nights at the South Rim. We rode the park buses to different overlooks, hiked down the Kaibab Trail just a little bit. We also walked along the Rim Trail and for a long time (over an hour) never saw another person. We got some great photos too. I also recommend taking one of the Ranger walks, very informative.
