If you notice that the price of your reservation drops after you make a reservation, will DCL honor the new lower price, or are you locked into the higher price?

(i.e., on Royal Caribbean, if you notice the price drops, and you call them (or your TA) they will honor the lower price)

You have to call but they will adjust and refund you the difference. :)

There was recently a price drop on our cruise and they just credited it to my credit card. I didn't have to call anyone!:yay:

Is this true even after PIF and into the penalty dates? I know it wouldn't be for any specials like the I/O/VGT. But just a regular price drop like you are looking at the cruise online and notice your cruise is say $50 less?

AFAIK, after the PIF date, any price drops are usually related to "new bookings only".

I know the taxes went down on one booking and my credit card was credited something like $27.00.

Yes, if there has been a regular price drop at any time before you cruise that is not a *GT rate, then you can get it adjusted. There was a thread recently with a couple people who also had that experience. I know that there were several people who were moved to the cat 12 GTY status a couple months before our 2006 cruise [back when you could book 4 people in one and it guaranteed you at least a cat 11]. They all received large refunds. If there is a small amount that is automatically applied to your CC, then it was a drop in taxes/port fees.

Policies have changed since 2006.
If price drops before the PIF date, there's no problem.
After you're paid in full, I don't know - I do know you can't just switch to a *GT rate - doing so would involve cancelling your existing reservation and paying the cancellation fees.

That was just my own experience. There have been posts on a thread here within the past couple months.

Here is the thread from last month with the same experience.

The confirmation by the OP that DCL did in fact refund the difference to her. It was not a *GT rate or any other special discount, simply the price showing up online.

I finally heard back from my TA this afternoon and YES, DCL is going to refund us $972 due to the price drop!!! :yay: She said that she has never seen DCL drop prices like this for no apparent reason which is why she hadn't been checking for me. I am so grateful to DCL for refunding our money with only 46 days left until our cruise. I was really expecting them to say no.

So was mine...for January 24,2013 cruise...paid a year in advance

Before the PIF date there was a small price drop for my cruise, plus they offered a small OBC. I contacted DCL but they refused to adjust my price, and wouldn't even give me the diffence as OBC. They said I could cancel and re-book but I didn't want to risk losing the stateroom I'd chosen.

I was irritated given how many posts I've read where they did adjust prices in the same circumstances. It wasn't a large amount of money but it would have been nice to have it as extra spending onboard. :(

We got a credit to our card once from DCL. I had no idea why and when I called they told me it was bc the price had dropped and they were giving us the difference.

This happened to us once and it was after PIF date, a credit magically appeared on our account pixiedust: It did not show up on the online reservation review but saw it when prepaying tips. Called to ask what happened and was told that fare adjustment occurred because they sold the remaining cabins at a discount so they applied the discount to my resy - happy all over :woohoo:
