I know I have just submitted another thread on car hire prices, but I have another question which we are trying to work out:

There's 7 of us in a villa for 17 days. We could just get X1 7 seater for the whole time on it's own but we want 2 cars for flexibilty. Which is the cheapest:

Option 1
Hire X2 mid sizes, and each trip to the parks pay 2 lots of parking (10 days approx, maybe less, maybe more)

Option 2
Hire X1 7 seater (quoted £500 approx) and 1 mid size, and each time we all go to the parks pay only 1 lot of parking (as we'd all go in the 7 seater)

Hope that makes sense

We are going for our wedding trip in November and are hiring a 7 seater and a mid-size car. That way, if someone wants to go out without the others, they have the option but if we are all going to the same place we will travel together (saves money on parking and time hunting for a parking space in other places).

Hope that helps.

i would go with option 2, infact thats what we have for our next holiday- 7str and an intermediate!

Last time we went we did option 2 - but I think ours was more like a 12 seater plus an intermediate.
To be fair each time we went to the parks we normally went as a group, so only took the big car, but evenings we all had different ideas as to what we wanted to do so 2 cars then came into their own.
Having 2 cars also helped in the transition from the airport and back. It's amazing how much space suitcases and hand luggage for 7 people will take up.
If you genuinly do think that you will take both cars to the parks each day I would suggest getting an annual pass as you will then get free parking for one of the cars which will help cut down the costs.

I would go with option 2, you will probably find you mainly go out in a group, you will probably all go to the park together and if someone wants to stay behind they have the option of taking the car.
It will be more expensive but you will save on parking and also gas.
