Hi Guys...Back at it again! Considering an 8 night trip over February break arriving on the 16th to take advantage of free dining, and so the kids would only miss two days of school!

Anyway, I'm on the Disney website checking out different options, and every time I get a package price, complete all my choices, add airfare, etc., I then click on the "select this package" option, and the price on the next page rises by about $800!!

Anybody know what's going on with that?

Is that *seriously* just the crazy sales/hotel tax???? O...M...G!

Shouldn't be- taxes are usually included in the quote. I know it always adds the trip insurance, and you have to uncheck it to get the price to go back, but $800? Yikes??????

Yeah, this is getting weird. It's not the optional insurance. I've played with that as well.

It's only happening with the deluxe hotels too. I priced out a package for CSR, and it gave me the quote and it remained exactly the same on the following page. When I do the BC or AKL, it goes up by almost $800 every time.

And since it's not happening with the mods (or the values, I checked just to see), something weird is happening.

I may have to actually <gasp> call!!:scared1:

have you checked your ticket package to see if it has the hopper and water parks included? If that's not it, the only other things I can think of are room categories.

This was happening to me as well. Would pick room, ticket types, maybe add the dining plan (or not), even airfare or not.

Quote would be, say, $4200. Would go to the next page where it shows with or without insurance and instead of $4200 without insurance it was over $5000.

Yeah, that's exactly it Travis. No matter what options I choose, as long as I'm "booking" a deluxe resort, it adds about $800 to the total between those two pages. But I haven't tried again today to see if anything changes. I think I'll clear my browser cache just to see if that has anything to do with it.

This is only a guess, but wondering if the room you are selecting is not available for that discount. (Either not offered, or booked up.) And rather than show a response something like Sorry, this is not available with this offer, yada, yada, yada -- the system is giving you the full price or less of a discounted rate.
It sounds like it may be available. Just not at the rate you were searching under.
:confused3

Try pricing without the airfare. I've had jumps in prices like that when booking airfare or packages (not to WDW but to other destinations) in Expedia, Travelocity, etc.

Hmmm...still did it even without the airfare.

Specifically, I'm trying to make a booking starting on February 16, the last day for free dining during that specific period.

Weird.....

I just ran 2 adults, at AKL, standard view, from 16 - 24 Feb, MYW base tickets with FREE DINING and it came out to $4216.32, and on "select" the price only went up the cost of the insurance ($4356.12).

Everytime you price out a package you need to go back to the special offers page. If you click on edit or change it would boot you back to full price. The 800 difference maybe that the cost of the dining plan. There website has a lot of glitches.

I would call and see what they quote on the phone. It sounds like it's applying free dining, but then taking it out. The WDW website is sooo buggy.

Well, after playing with it for quite a while, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the cost of the flights.

I've been checking the cost of RT flights between Rochester and Orlando, and they're averaging around $375 each (which is insanely high....it's too early to book flights for February right now anyway). When I price out specific flights on the Disney website, they're coming out to about $250 each on the initial page, but the total cost is going up substantially when I click on that "book now" button. My guess is that the cost of the flights is not being correctly calculated by the Disney website initially, but is then "updated" to the correct cost before it goes to the final page.

That's my best guess anyway.

Fortunately, I'm not having any issues booking a package without the airlines. Looks like a February trip may just happen after all!

I have a free question about dining that I think one of you could answer. I am going to be there Feb. 17-26th. If I check in during the free dining period will it apply to the whole trip even though my trip goes past the FD dates?

I thought FD went till the 17th but it looks like the 15th......I would still like to know the answer anyway.

Yes, FD typically applies for the length of your stay as long as your arrival date is during the promo period.
