Our Crew - easier to just use first names!
Me - Darlene (not telling age)
DH - Tim (34) (Driver of Vehicle #2)
DD1 - Alex (14.5 & full of hormones)
DD2 - Ashlee (12)
BF - Janice (not allowed to tell her age either or her parents)
BF Dad - Mack (Lead vehicle driver #1,just try & keep up)
BF Mom - Hiroko
BF DD1 - Brianna (13) (has been to WDW w/us, and my DD1's BF)
BF DD2 - Kaitlynn (2) (everyday for 3months has been asking me when are we going to see Mickey Mouse)
My mom - Tricia (sorry can't give her age)
DB2 - Joe (17)
DB3 - Mike (16 in 3 weeks)
I originally started planning this trip last X-mas break w/the understanding if the husband deployed he still wanted the girls and I to go for the holidays instead of staying in TX by ourselves. So we decided to invite my mom & brothers (who live in Pensacola to join us). In Aug we invited Brianna to join us again, then Janices parents decided to send her and both girls w/us as a X-mas present, about a month later after Ms. Hiroko had surgery and all went well she decided she would like to go also and see her grandchildren enjoy it therefor making us a Grand Gathering! During the wait we had many threats of possible cancellations w/me changing offices where I work and my leave trying to be approved, my husbands unit deploying and even though he stayed on rear-d his leave being approved, and Janices schedule at work finally coming through.
Fast Forward
Day 1 / 17 Dec
Our goal was to be on the road by 5am, Tim and Mack said "no way" not with you women! We left at 5:30! Not to bad. We made it to the other side of Houston in 3 hours, which is good and stopped at Cracker Barrel as planned, took a little longer than planned, but it was Sat. Morning. We head out to the cars ready to put some serious miles behind us and then it happened or I guess you can say it didn't - Our 2004 Expedition woudn't start - dead! I called Ford road side Assist, while Tim walked next door to the Jeep dealership. Assist. said it would be 30-60 min, but Tim came back w/a number to Ford place up the road. I called them and the service dept was open and could help us as soon as we got there. It ended up being the battery (funny it was a new battery 3mon ago from wreck - another story for later), they had on the road in no time and total delay time was 2 hours! Unfortunatly the whole way to my moms in Pensacola was rain-yuck! So we are here now and are planning to be back on the road at 6am. So if you are still reading at this point thank you and I will write the remainder of this upon our return home after Xmas. Happy Holidays!!
