I used to have one of the older models, years ago. It had that jiggly thing on top that would make a noise every so many seconds. It was scary! :scared1:

Lately I've seen the newer models and I'm thinking of getting one. It seems they have improved over the years.

I remember how quickly you could fix something, even frozen foods, in the pressure cooker. It would be nice for those times you didn't put something in the crock pot early in the day or you just wanted something quick and nutritious.

Anyone have one of the newer models and what do you think?

mine is still a wee bit older....I love it....We got the stainless steel one as it lasts longer and doesnt corrode.....It still jiggles on top when it is slowly cooking.
My favorite thing to make in it is BAKED BEANS...not an all day process anymore.

Put beans over night in water.....next day empty water and fill it back up with water....put in one onion cut in half...a little pepper and dry mustard....and six or so hot and sweet sausage....I mix the molasses in water and pour it in and mix it around....
Within an hour or so the beans are done.....what a way NOT to have to cook all day in oven....

I have tried the old fashioned kind and now I have a fancy electronic one. I love the new one because it seems that less steam escapes during the cooking process and therefore there is less odor from the food cooking. I do mainly pinto beans, soups/stews, and pot roasts in mine. Love it! :goodvibes

come on dad....they dont blow up anymore...:-):rotfl:...they let the peeton pop and sometimes it hits the ceiling if something gets stuck in the hole that escapes steam...but no more blowing up.

Maybe she forgot about it and let it completely run out of liquid. We use one and love it; it saves so much time.

The electronic ones are SO easy. You can also use it to brown meat before you put the lid on. Then just set the time. The electronics part pays attention to when the pressure is right. No having to stay on top of it and adjust the heat on the stove.

My aunt was so happy to unpack my grandmother's old pressure cooker. It's one thing I never learned to cook on, but I'd sure love to know.

I still use my 40-year-old pressure cooker from time to time. Every ten years or so I replace the gasket. Still works like a charm. Makes a yummy pot roast!

I just bought one a few weeks ago. I was TERRIFIED at using it, as I had heard so many horror stories... but I like to cook Indian food, and the website I visit shows lots of videos where they recommend using a pressure cooker.

I made one dish so far, and it was actually very easy peazy, lemon squeezy.... :rotfl:
