I have 2 DS 10, 13....they're looking forward to the Penny Presses.
Any suggestion on how to carry them?
Where to find them?
Any rare ones?

Thanks :earsboy: :earsboy:

Zip Lock bag probably will work pretty well.

If you go to any gift store you can find these neat little albums made for the pressed pennies. They are nice and small, hold the pennies perfectly, and can slide into a backpack or tote with no problem. We bought one for each of our kids and they love them. I think pressed pennies are the perfect memento from your Disney vacation. They are small, inexpensive, and finding new machines is an adventure all in itself :0)

My missus got one of those little album things when we went.....she got it half full and is hoping to finish it next January. Its a really good thing to have to keep them.

i used to collect the pressed pennies i have 1 full album and another one only half full, from the disney parks and universal parks.

TIP: Use shiny pennies, you can see the image clearer

Someone on the boards added this tip-in the mini MM tube, alternate two quarters and one penny so you dont have to dig around for the change. It costs .50 to press a penny, 1.00 for quarters (I have another MM tube for the quarter presses).

Hi. They actually sell the 'penny books' in disneyworld.
It's kind of like a three fold wallet & inside is 100 or so little plastic 'holders' for the pressed pennies. My son started his collection 2 years ago & filled in a bunch & now every year he brings his 'wallet' with him to add to his collection.

Love the M&M idea with the alternating coins. My boys will LOVE this.
Thanks for the websites tips, too. :cool1:

why do they cost so much just to put a penny thru a crank...amamzing...
but it doesnt matter we will do it anyway... :thumbsup2

Actually, the "pressed penny" experts suggest NOT using the shiny new pennies as they can "smear" when pressed - use pre-1982 pennies when possible because they were made from a harder material.

I've heard that you can "wash" your pennies with catsup before the trip to get the older ones to look nicer.

I've also read that you want to get the design pressed onto the "face" of the penny because the "tail" side sometimes leaves parts of the monument and you end up with an incomplete image.

is there like a machine somewhere where you can get your dollars changed into quarters???

when i collect the pennies i never have enough quarters

Wow. Thank you so much for the great information. Last year DD7 really got into the pressed penny machines on our LAST day there. She is really looking forward to adding to her collection. Now I just have to go through our spare change bowl looking for the pre-1982 pennies and wash them with catsup before we leave. My husband is going to think I have lost my mind now for sure, not that he probably doesn't already.

I spent an hour this weekend going through all of the pennies in the house lookiing for pre- 1982 pennies. Now bring on the ketchup! :thumbsup2
