Ok so i love pressed pennies and i was wondering how many pennies i would need to get them from most of the machines. I was thinking either 50 pennies or 100 pennies. Would 100 pennies be too many? I just want to get enough from the bank before we go and i didnt know if there were lots of machines in each park or just a few and how many pennies i would need to get.

i know this is a weird question but i thought i would ask anyway!

100 pressed pennies? :scared:

Don't forget, you'll need about 500 quarters as well!!! (I want to say it's $1.51 to make a pressed "penny"...)

(I don't even want to think how much money that is...)

:worship: if you actually do this!!!

Ha.. we do this too.... I've been saving my quarters and pennies since I booked the trip... I'll bring the coins in one of those M&M containers... Basically .. the machines are everywhere... almost all of the rides / attractions have them at the exit line / gift shop. We probably end up spending about $40-$50 by the end of the week in pressed pennies... if not more... because each atttraction might have 2 or 3 different versions of the penny.. and of course each kid wants thier own different one...;)

It takes six quarters to make a pressed penny????:scared1:????????:scared1:?????????

thanks daisyy and do you know is it just 2 quarters to make it? i thought it would be 51 cents to make a pressed penny.

Whooaaaa!!!! dont be scared its only 50 cents to press a penny... there might be a couple for a dollar.. But 50 cents is what they mainly cost

Yep - it's 50c + 1 penny. There are TONS of the machines and each has 3 pictures to choose from. I actually like using a "dirty" penny because you can see the penny image STRETCHED on the back. With the new "pretty" pennies it basically flattens out.

There are also pressed Quarters. The pictures on those are quite nice, but I believe they cost 1$ + 1 quarter so they can be pretty pricey.

AND there's a pressed penny book that you can get.

I think I read once that somewhere you can find a list of ALL the machines...

Didn't mean to scare you...

... And thanks for the correction.

However, I DO remember paying $1.51 for a Tinkerbell pressed penny at her store at MK. I'm pretty sure I paid the same for a ToT pressed penny as well.

Have fun, no matter what the cost!

Perhaps THIS is what I did... :upsidedow

Wait..... sorry to hijack the thread but... TINKERBELL HAS HER OWN STORE???!??

I also got scared for a minute because I was planning 2 quarters and 1 penny for each press for each kid.

I know it's 51 cents for each one.. but my husband is a pressed penny freak... (we get them everywhere we go, not just disney)... and so since there's about 3 or 4 designs for each attraction. / character.. it adds up fast! we have a few of those pressed penny books filled.. (convienently they sell them in the gift shops too)... I'm sure we have many duplicates as well.. since sometimes we're like do we have that one already? and, we'll get it anyway...

100 pennies would equal needing 200 quarters...which is $50.

Not too shabby.

For $51 total, you have 100 cool Disney souvenirs to bring back with you.

We always have trouble at the airport w/ our m&m tubes full of quarters & pennies. I just take them out of our carry on now & put them w/ our shoes. I guess they look like a bomb or something.

allears.net has a list by location of where to find the different machines. It's under the "other fun things" heading

US TOO! :lmao: The airport security person asked why I didn't just bring dollar bills and use the change machine...? Definately not as fun!!
3 Pressed Penny tubes, along with a tube for "Laundry Money" and the 4 D batteries in our suitcase sure gave the security person something to look at! :scared1:

you guys are so helpful! I can't wait! And i'm definitely going to look at those websites that were suggested! :thumbsup2

I LOVED the pressed pennies when I was a kid! I was cleaning, and I found several of my pennies including Meeko, Splash Mountain and POTC. I think I even had a ToT one! I'm going a few times this year, and I'm thinking of saving my change between trips to partake. :goodvibes
