My son would love to collect the pressed pennies you can make at Disney. My question is...does the machines take quarters...and how many? I know our zoo takes two quarters and a penny but wasn't sure if, because everything cost more in Disney, what the price would be.

I thought about getting a roll of pennies and a roll or two of quarters and letting my son carry them in his small back pack with his autograph book.

Thanks for your help! ;)

Penny press takes 2 quarters and a penny. DS was 10 or 11 the year he got so into it. The machines are EVERYWHERE so be aware to do them all will really add up. They also have books for the quarters.

The machines over by the ToT will give you a pressed quarter. It is really cute with Mickey standing in front of an elevator. I think the cost of this one is 75 cents. Have fun. They are fun to collect from all over the parks. :goodvibes

my dd's loved collecting the pressed pennies and putting them in the books. All those fun little disney things made the trip so special for them. :)

My kids love doing this! And on a grand scale, it's much more affordable than other souvenirs.

I get a bunch of pennies before our trip, soak them in ketchup and vinegar to make them super shiny and 2 rolls of quarters. It's a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the link. That's awesome that they even have them at the resorts! Is it "special" books that they sell for the pressed pennies or just regular albums?

according to allears the quarter one are $1.25 and the penny ones are $.51

Try using the M&M mini tubes and fill it with Quarter,Quarter, penny - that way its already sorted out for you.

OMG!! That was an awesome idea! And to think I was going to just put them into a plastic baggie! I love it! Thanks! :Pinkbounc

Do the coins have to be American? I am from Canada and was just wondering if I could use our coins. We will be there in 6 days.

FWIW, if you're flying you may want to carry these with you as loose change and assemble them after you arrive. Others on these boards have reported having luggage opened (checked and carry on) when packed with the m&m containers already "put together".

Not positive, but I think they have to be American.

we premade our M&M containers at home, my kids really enjoyed doing things to get ready for the trip. I would suggest taping the covers closed with masking tape (we had one open on the way down) and put in CHECKED luggage. My daughter had 2 tubes in her carry on and was stopped by security because it set off an alarm.

You can purchase the books anywhere that has the machines, many even displayed them on top of the machine. They cost about $6 and are worth it. They hold 36 pennies and 6 quarters. We actually used the extra 6 for pennies and it worked fine.

We had the lists of where the machines are located but it was a lot more fun to make a game out of finding them throughout the parks. The kids really liked finding them and selecting their penny.
