Has anyone tried using Canadian pennies and quarters? Or do I need to hunt down American?

Canadian money works to be pressed, but not for payment. We have used them before.

I feel like we've pressed Canadian pennies in the past and they came out off centre or something.... maybe someone can confirm that. I feel like they weren't quite right.

i believe i read somewhere that canadian pennies are not a great thing to use as they often jam up the machine- different materials or thickness? sorry i can't remember specifics.

i used to just put pennies aside from my cashier days or keep an eye on my change as theres always ones circulating in it. now with our penny going byebye the best thing to do is just ask to buy a roll of pennies at any of the stores in the world. i think i'm good for awhile penny wise, but know i've had to buy rolls of quarters from cm's before and it's never been an issue.

It's actually a different thickness. Canadian pennies are 1.45mm thick, US pennies are 1.55mm thick. It may not seem like much, but we've not had a great experience pressing Canadian pennies. I only pressed a few, but wasn't happy - bad shape when pressed. From then on, only US pennies. Now I have about 300, a minor addiction clearly.

ty! i knew i wasn't totally loosing my mind....yet! lol you're not alone, we started collecting prekids before we knew there were so many machines, now that the kids have gone a few times we can't get within 20 paces of a machine and them demanding to make them! lol the addicition continues!

Its true the American pennies work better than the canadian 1 cent pieces. However I have in the past paid the 50cents in canadian quarters;)

Canadian pennies are harder than the american. They don't press as easy so you don't get as good an image
