Does anybody collect them, if so are they fun to search out?

I'm thinking about getting one of the pressed pennies books when we go to WDW.

I don't collect them, but I've been tempted more than once. There seem to be a lot of the penny machines scattered all over the world. Would be fun to start a collection.

My daughters collect them from every place we travel that they find a machine but they have gotten only one from WDW--in Toontown. I guess the pin trading seems to hold more interest to them when we are at WDW because they can interact with the CMs.

http://www.presscoins.com/ is a great place to get started if you're thinking about collecting the pressed coins. My family did it during our last trip and had a lot of fun.

In addition to pennies, there are also quarters and [new this year] dimes. Unless you just want to use machines when you see them, your best bet is to go through the list and decide if there is a theme you want or a specific collection. There are so many of the pressed coin machines that if you don't print off the list before you go, you'll probably never find them all.

My wife does this. What I did was find some pre 1983 pennies (solid copper) and polished them with CLR. This makes a nice start to press with. Then we date the backs with a silver sharpy and put them in one of the pressed coin books you can buy at DW. Its a lot of fun.

This sums up my Disney experience perfectly. I am a hardcore penny squisher (600+ and counting) but at WDW I concentrate on pin trading. I have a few pennies from WDW but it is actually a very small percentage of my collection.

The best Disney squishing experience I had was at DL in 2005 when they had 51 squished pennies (one for each year) released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of DL. They even made a special book to hold them. That is the pride of my collection.

during the 50th anniversary of DL i was a hard core penny collector. right now i have 3 1/2 books filled. i dont really collect them now, but i always make sure i get the seasonal nightmare b4 xmas quarters during halloween-xmas time!

we did this on our past trip. my dd had fun looking for them. the only problem is some were out of service.

we did one from all the countries in epcot (except Morocco, it was out of service). and Japan and china wasn't in the county. i won't tell you where they are. it fun to find them. ;)

also found them all over the parks. and for CM they usually knew where they were.

i just started my collection last time i went to DLR, my friends i were with were getting them, then next thing you know i have a booklet holder and about 15 of them, im hooked now, i wonder how often they change them?

I have a niece that collects these and everytime we go she has us look for new ones for her. If you do not want to 'search' for the machines, you can go to Town Hall (at least at DL you can) and they have a list of machines and where they are at to make it easier on you.

I collect pressed pennies from everywhere I travel--I have about 350 and about 40 from Disney World. I love it! It's a cheap souvenir and easy to carry.
