Listen guys and gals, no jokes about snow during Presidents week here on Long Island. :sad1: Back a few months ago we too were going to go to WDW from Feb 19-24, but I had to cancel. I could not get good airfare before I had to bank my points if I did not want to loose them. :guilty:, so I had to sadly cancel.

I wish you all GREAT trips, but please don't wish us fellow Long Islander's snow while you are gone. LOL. Then I will really feel bad about cancelling.

Seriously though, I hope and am sure you will have great trips!! :flower:

Well, I think it is always a gamble in Feb., but we have gone quite often over the years (Captiva before WDW) and have always been lucky and hit warm temperatures. Of course coming from Rochester in Feb it doesn't take too much to make us happy. Hey were just happy to have sunshine. Sometimes it can be weeks between sunny days in the winter (lake affect snow & clouds and the shorter days). It really can get to you. I'm not sure of the ocean temp. since this is the first time on the Alantic but I'm not sure if we are really ocean swimmers anyway. It always looks like fun but I'm sure the girls would find it too salty, too rough, too wavey, too dirty, too scary........you get the idea. Unfortuately they have grown up pool swimmers. Me on the other hand grew up swimming at the end of a dirt road in Lake Ontario, but get a little concerned about jellyfish and other sea creatures. I hear they heat the pool to 82! :teeth:

Just got my Christmas present early--DH is giving me airfare for a Feb trip!!!
we'll be there Pres week too!
now we just need somewhere to stay.... :rotfl2:

Will be at the Beach Club (but not the Villas), 2/23-2/26. DH's company is having its annual conference there, so the room is on the company, and we've just GOT to squeeze more usage out of our APs!

I just canceled our reservation for February @ SSR. Going Aug 13-18 now @ SSR. Kinda glad we are not going for Presidents week. I don't like the crowds.

We'll be there 2/18 - 2/25. BCV 2bdrm all nights except for one midweek night that it looks like we'll be moved to a BWV Grand Villa. (Long explanation; hate the idea of having to move it all if it comes to that, but kind of anxious to see the Grand Villa anyway...

I've heard the suggestion that we purchase our Feb park admission tickets online prior to end-of-year to avoid a rate increase that typically happens on Jan 1. I haven't done that yet. What about you all?

We'll be there too, but nonDVC. We're renting a condo over at Windsor Palms (got a great rate of $465 for the week). We're flying Allegiant Air from Worcester to Sanford. I was in the SWA watch line, and Allegiant opened up flights with good into prices, so we'll brave the Feb crowds. I haven't been able to get myself to do the ADRs -- still focused on the Christmas trip.

I hate to break it to you, but crowds in August are generally larger than those in February, even during the week following Presidents' Day! Sure, Presidents' Day weekend is crowded, but the rest of the week is pretty easy. Remember, it's pretty much only New England (and not even all of NE) and parts of NY, plus a few others elsewhere who get that week off. In much of the country, spring vacation is around Easter, with no break in February.

I hope August works out for you. But Florida in August is just too darn hot for this family.

AP vouchers will be in our stockings:)

But yes, there are, "typically", price increases in the New Year...but I've come to realize that there really aren't any savings when it comes to WDW and our family;)..we save a few $$ on something, the "savings" go towards "another" Character breakfast...we get AP's, we start thinking more trips...DVC gets dining, we get an add-on...

Where does it stop!! :teeth: :teeth:

:sunny:

pumpkinboy, we are also waiting til August so MIL could save longer to go so she could afford it. I thought I read that August slowed down after the first 2 weeks. Oh well, can't be as bad as April vacation last year( I hope). We went to AK one day and all we did was Rafikis Planet watch, lunch,Pocahontis show, Safari with fastpass, and had a fastpass for Kali but when we got back for our time the ride was shutdown. Lunch took forever waiting in line at Restaurantosaurus so in August we will have an ADR for Rainforest Cafe. I've only been in October, January and April so now I will see how August is. I hope its not too bad because that is when we might go often because we have 1 son in first grade and 1 son who will be in kindergarten next year. I don't really want to take them out of school every year. We will be taking them out next year for 1 week so we can go in December and see it all decorated for the holidays and MVMCP.

We will be in OKW from 2/19-2/24. We will be driving from Long Island NY since I refuse to pay over $500 per ticket for airfare. We plan to drive again for Easter week 4/16-4/21 staying in BWV. We drove 2 times last year to WDW. It was a different experience than flying, we enjoyed the time spent talking and playing games in the car with the kids. Trick is you must prepare enough activities and dvds for the kids. We flew 2 more times to DW last Dec. and August of this year. I don't mind driving if the airfare is too costly. It will take us longer, but who cares as long as we get to go "home" ;) That being said, I will be driving with my girlfriend and the kids during the week of Christmas to OKW. Can't wait to see Christmas in Disney. :cool1: Just can't seem to get enought of Disney, DH is seriously thinking about taking me to a doctor for my disney addiction. :rotfl2: See you all down there

Wow Poohstar, I give you a lot of credit for driving. We were supposed to be at OKW Feb. 19-24 also, but I could not pay the $600 for a round trip ticket from NY, either. That was just way too much, but I do not think we will ever drive to Florida from Long Island. So, we decided to go for the 4th of July instead. Cheaper airfare! I know it will be real hot, humid and crowded, but I just could not justify that airfare for President's week. This will be our first time going for the 4th.

Have fun everyone and save driving Poohstar!! :flower:

We will also be driving! The only reasonable airfare I could find involved flying into a different airport, and on a different day. By the time you add an extra hotel night and the cost of a rental, the savings weren't worth it. While I prefer flying, we really don't mind the drive too much. Plus, my son turns 16 this month so we will have 3 drivers. At this point, I just can't wait to get there!

Well, we were all set to drive, but I just found a fantastic fare from Spirit. We will now fly out the 19th and return the 26th, for a total cost of $707 for the four of us! Once you add up the gas and an overnight hotel stop both ways, we probably would have come close to spending that much driving our Suburban down. Now I get another night at WDW!

We'll be there from Feb. 21 to 24 at SSR wait listed for 19 to 21 hope to get in. Air fare crazy. 95 South here we come!!!!!!!!!!!. " PEDRO SAYS " What a great landmark." Also, Go Penn State !!!!!! :paw: :paw: :paw: :paw:

We'll be there too. Staying at BCV 2/19-2/24 then 2/24-2/26 at Hard Rock Hotel.

Hey JonesmatNY and aDVCguy, lets make that no snow until after we return!! Last year we got stuck in Orlando when they closed all NY airports for 2 days due to a snow storm.

We'll be there from 2/17-2/24. Meeting family from ND. Just wish I'd joined DVC a little sooner :sad2:

We'll be staying in POP Century, but that's okay. There will be lotz of "coming home" in the future!!!

We 'll be at SSR from 2/19-2/23 and Universal's RPH 2/23-2/24 (unless my waitlist at SSR for 2/23 comes through and then the days are shifted forward one day.)
