President Bush just went by our house

President Bush spent the weekend at Walker's Point and he left this afternoon. We always know when he is in town, especially when he arrives and departs. Helicopters circle all around our neighborhood, streets are barricaded, and then eventually a huge motorcade, (local police, rescue, and lots of black SUV's with privacy glass), come tearing through town.

Our house is on a street with a 25mph zone, but the motorcade goes by at about 45mph. It was kind of funny because we can see the drivers and they all look like they are concentrating on the road, but one driver in an SUV had his arm casually out the window, and he saw us on our front porch and gave a wave. He had on some type of cap and dark glasses.

How neat!!!! It is always something to see his caravan going down the expressway here in Chicago too, like a small army...well, not that small.

How cool...on one of his trips to PA he went by my nephew's business...I wish i could have been there. the closest I have come to a major politician was Hillary when she was running for office and she made a stop at the local mall. We were just pulling into the lot and saw all the cars so i wondered out loud to my kids that it must be a celebrity. I saw here get out of the limo and my kids were yelling "It's Mrs. Clinton" I was surprised they even knew who she was. So I got a glimpse of her, but not up too close.

President Bush's land in Crawford backs up to my Uncle's pasture.
There is nothing like seeing the caravan coming down the farm market road. The cows get a big kick out of it. Seriously, it is neat to have him so close, but also turns the small community into chaos with all the reporters, secret service, and tourists that come in to catch a glimpse of him while he is here. The helecopters that transport him from TSTC airport in Waco to Crawford is awesome to see too.

The parents of the bride at this weekend's Bush family wedding used to live here. A co-worker of DH is a good friend of theirs and is also in your area this weekend for the wedding. I can't wait until she gets back. I want to hear all about it.
