We fly next week and my DW is panicking about the few presents we are taking for the children.

We are not wrapping them and pray that the bag isn't opened but the question relates to tax etc when coming back, should we take the receipts to show that we had already purchased them in the UK in case we get stopped or can we send them on at a later date? Will they take them off the kids if we don't have them.

You have already paid the duty on the presents here in the UK, so there will be no need to pay any extra tax to customs and excise. I would take the reciepts for proof of purchase.
