Here's a review I posted on another website about my experience with Zenni Optical:
DH and I both needed glasses, and they are so expensive we decided to try Zenni Optical .
We had our eye exam at our opthamologist and had him give us the prescriptions. There is a special number you need, a measurement the doctor should take. It's the PD number, you can't order online without it. It measures where your pupils are.
Ordering online was interesting. You upload a picture and "try on" different glasses. Glasses range anywhere from $6.95-$40, base price. There is an additional cost for things such as anti-glare coating ($5) and of course if you need a special prescription. It costs $4.95 to ship, whether you buy one pair or multiple pairs. We ordered a pair of glasses with progressive lenses for dh, a pair of glasses plus a pair of prescription sunglasses for me. For 3 pairs of glasses it cost us $115, including shipping. The big expense was dh's special lenses.
It took about 2 weeks for the glasses to arrive. They each came in a cheap but sturdy enough plastic case, with a cleaning cloth. They were shipped together in a padded shipping envelope.
DH doesn't like his glasses but it's mostly because he won't wear them. He doesn't like the progressive lenses. It's his issue, not a problem with the glasses.
I'm very happy with both of my pairs of glasses.
Funny story, I had to call the eye doctor to get dh's PD. The receptionist was asking me all about ordering online, etc. and wanted me to report back and let her know how I made out. I did end up calling her back but it was a few months later because I had wanted to use the glasses awhile before giving my review. She was very interested, and said she was just talking to somebody about it the day before.
