Does anyone know if you have to have a written copy of your prescriptions or will just the original bottle from the pharmacy suffice? Also, my son has asthma and I will be bringing a neubilizer along (for breathing treatments if needed) do you think I will have any trouble since it is a medical device?

The original container with a valid prescription (less than 1 year old, etc) is fine and serves as legal documentation.

For the nebulizer equipment, I would suggest contacting DCL or your TA if you used one, and asking for the Medical Needs form. You can inform DCL of the equipment you will be bringing and they can be aware of it before your cruise. There are areas on the form that your Doctor can sign, if necessary.

I will be using the form myself to notify them that I'll be bringing my CPAP machine along, which is used to treat sleep apnea. You can fax the form back to DCL at the number they provide.

Albiats - did you mean the bottle plus a written prescription or just the bottle with the printed 'prescription' on it?

We took our prescriptions in the original bottle dispensed by the pharmacy for my meds and my sons.

BUT, my DH takes 8 different items daily. Since US customs on the final day is the reason for needing the original bottles, we came up with a solution instead of taking a suitcase of meds. Our Dr. gave us new prescriptions. We carried the papers with us if need in an emergency. My DH already uses a weekly pill divider. Has 7 little compartments maked M, T, W, etc. Took his regular meds Sat. morning, then had the pill holder for the next seven days. When we went through customes on the final morning the pill holder was empty. Thus no need for the orginal bottles to prove anything to anyone.;)

I just couldn't see carrying all those pill bottles....I needed extra room for souvenirs!!

You don't need a written prescription if the medicine is in a container that has a valid prescription label.

I will take your advice about calling DCL for the medical form. My ds inhalers do not have a presciption directly on the inhaler because there is no room to attach the label. I can only assume that if we have the box it came in from the pharmacy with the label attached that they will figure it out.
