Not sure what is going on with my chemistry, but, I cannot find a deodorant that works, thought asking my dermatologist about a prescription one - anybody ever used one and how did it do? Any other tips would be great ;) Tia

Have you tried the (fairly new) Secret Clinical Strength (prescription strength without a prescription)? I usually use their regular gel, but this was on sale at Target once so I thought I'd try it. I think it's usually around $7, so it's more expensive than regular unless you find a sale too. I am impressed that it keeps me absolutely dry, even when I mow the grass down here in FL and it's 100 degrees out. :cutie:

I just started using a prescription antiperspirant this week. I use it for too sweaty hands. It's a liquid that I put on at bedtime, wrap my hands in saran wrap and cover with socks. It was uncomfortable but I only had to do that for two nights; now I only have to reapply once a week. I live in very hot, very humid Miami and it has stopped my hands from sweating completely. I haven't done any athletics since starting it, but it has worked to stop regular hand clamminess.

By the way, you won't need to wrap your underarms in saran wrap, only wear a snug t-shirt.

Just have the dermatologist botox your armpits. It paralyzes the sweat glands. No sweat, no stink. It's covered under insurance if you use the term "hyperhydrosis". Then you get your pits waxed and it's like the sahara desert. You don't even need deodorant anymore...

I wanted the doc to botox my palms but he said to try the liquid first. Maybe fewer side affects? But you're right, "hyperhydrosis", so insurance did cover it, all I had to pay was my $10 copay.

Have to get the clinical strength secret for DD, who sweats an extreme amount. I do worry a bit about her using it though.

When you say you can't find a deodorant that works, do you mean for sweating or odor?

:rotfl2: Oh Tag Fairy!!!

I use Tom's Aluminum Free Deodorant Stick because it is the only one I have found that doesn't use any aluminum and I won't put Aluminum on my skin.

Thanks for all the great replies. The botox sounds great, how painful is it??? Mine seems to be more odor related, which could be due to the increase in sweating.
I have researched some things online and found suggestions on taking chlorophyll, using purell hand sanitizer, milk of Milk of Magnesia, rosemary and tea tree oil, etc...
I tried the purell hand sanitizer last night and cant believe how well it has worked, only time will tell :rotfl:.

DD uses Degree Prescription Strength. It really works for her and nothing had helped before that.

Of course the odor is caused by bacteria from your sweat so the Purell does a really good job of getting rid of bacteria. Be careful cutting off your sweat because if you don't expel the fluid, you could cause other bad reactions in those areas. My husband started using one of those industrial strength deodorants and it caused his skin to react in a itchy rash which was painful when he was sweating and drove him crazy. I had the same reaction when I sprayed my feet with an antiperspirant to avoid blisters-horrible, itching rash. I'd say you're better off washing twice a day and wearing a deodorant like a stone and Tom's combined. I'm a school bus driver and it gets REALLY hot in the bus. I use three kinds of deodorant(not at the same time), one every third day. I've found my system starts rejecting just one brand used every day. I use a stone, Tom's and Dove.
I'd love to get away from the Dove because of the aluminum but I find I need it every third day or so.
