It seems that all the parents send in gifts....I usually do as well but this year I have yet to buy anything. I was thinking of waiting until the new year starts and send in a gift as well as a letter thanking them for what they do all year for my girls.

Would that be rude or should I rush out and pick up some quick thing to bring in tomorrow?

As a preschool teacher, it was nice to receive gifts but I wasn't expecting it. some kids did and some didn't.

What I really enjoyed was the homemade cookies I received. I was told that the kids (young 3's) baked them with their parents. It was nice to think of the kids getting to spend undivided time with mom/dad making my cookies. (I work in a Christan Preschool)

I was told by them that I had to share. I was also told by one little boy that I could have only one a day. If I ate more that that was "too much sugar" for the day. :rotfl: His mom was there when he told me. She just turned red and laughed.

Do what you feel comfortable with. A surprise after the holidays would be nice too. It will be hard on everyone getting back into the groove of school again.

I would think giving a gift after the holidays would be completely fine. We gave my daughter's preschool teachers their gifts on the last day of school (which was last Friday) but I was not feeling very well that week so I almost did exactly what you're thinking. (Turns out that little ill feeling was baby #2 making its appearance, but that's besides the point, I just had to share that!) I think when school starts up again in January it's almost a little depressing, as you know that you have many days ahead of you before you get another break so I think a little gift at that time would be a great idea.

I am a preschool teacher and it would not offend me at all. Like others have said, gifts are never expected, but I think it's a lovely token to give one. I also LOVE the homebaked goodies more than anything! I also got a lot of Starbucks gift card too, which are very appreciated! :goodvibes

I bought 2 books for my dd's class and will give them to her teacher when school starts up again. I did give her a card, though, thanking her for all she has done.

justhat, congrats! ...You should post a new thread. :goodvibes
