Help.. I need ideas..

I am trying to help plan a preschool dance class halloween party.. it only has about 15 girls... and the Moms said we would do cupcakes and juice box and then all the Moms bring something for the goodie bag.. I thought it would be really neat to call around to some of the businesses and get other things to put in their treat bags... do you think this is ok to do??

I already got an ok with McDonalds.. they are giving free ice cream coupons.. I thought oh that is wonderful!

Any other ideas?

I've done the calling business thing for Boy Scouts .. and got coupons for free ice cream cone at Baskins Robbins. Other places did not donate enough for everyone -- movie rental, bookstore, etc.-- we used these as prizes. However, I think if everyone brings something for the goodie bag you will get a bunch of stuff.

You may also want to check out Oriental Trading -- got all the stuff for my trick or treat bags pretty reasonably... including Halloween fun pads and GID vampire teeth. You could get stickers (which my DD4 loves) and other stuff. I also got my goody bags from them -- plain baggie style with Happy Halloween -- I think they were 50 for 1.99.

yea.. Baskin Robbins told me no.. because they donate to all schools during the year... but MCd's said yes!

definitely it is OK that have PR budgeted and they need to use the funds. Wendy's usually does frosty's also

If you can't get donations from FF places, you could always buy the halloween treat books. They usually sell for a dollar and I know BK, Wendy's, McDonald's and Friendly's all have them. You usually get 9-12 coupons in each book.

great idea.. I know our McDonalds never sells them..but I can check Wendys..

You'll be competing with the PTO's in the area but it's worth a shot. Most businesses set aside a certain amount each year to give out so the faster you go around the better.

some ideas-

call your dentist and see if he/she will donate toothbrushes and floss (mine gives them out along with sparkly pencils at every appointment),

my doctor gives out stickers (and not just the super patient ones-she does all the popular kid's shows/movies),

local police or fire departments usualy have safety coloring books for free,

my insurance agent has rulers with the company name on and they love to hand these out,

several of our local grocery stores sell coupon books for halloween-a free donut (they cost us 10 cents per coupon),

it's a dance class? hit up the local dance supply store-they may have something with their logo on it-or they might toss in some hair 'fu-fu' things just for a mention to the parents.

you can get tiny bottles of bubbles at party stores (they sell them in boxes cheap for weddings).

the only thing i have against coupons is if the child has siblings the parents are unlikely to redeam them if it's an item they can't afford to get the others (and frankly a free cone at baskin robins may be a good deal, but if i have to pay for my other kids to get one at 3 times what the same cone costs elsewhere its not an issue of affording it-it's just an issue of value for me).

wow... lots of good info.. I never thought about having siblings.. thanks! I only have the one child.. thanks for the tips!

I buy glow sticks in bulk and hand them out at Halloween. I got 600 for $0.16 each. I give them to DD and DS classes, to the group we go trick-or-treating with, the kids who come to our party, and my seniors are selling them Halloween night to the kids running the streets. Gotta make money for our WDW YES trip!!

At the rate I'm going I'll need to buy more :rotfl:

Michael's sells a tube of 15 glow bracelets for $1.00. I hand these out for Halloween along with candy and the kids love them.
