What movies should we watch so we're familiar with the characters and attractions? Of course, DNiece knows all the princesses and DS knows all the Pixar movies (Cars, Nemo, etc.) and Playhouse Disney shows, but what characters will we run into that may not be as popular right now?

DS has become a recent fan of the Lion King and Jungle Book, but other than that, he hasn't really seen the classics.

How about classics like Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh, since each has its own attraction. And you can find collections of the classic shorts starring Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Chip & Dale, etc.

These are some of the charcaters that we ran into that I thought were not as well known. Pinocchio, Chicken little, Mary Poppins, Chip and Dale, Leo and Annie, JoJo, Lilo and Stitch, Terk, Balou and King Louie, Power Rangers, Incredibles...there's also the Dumbo ride, yeah, we should have brushed up on some movies other than Sleeping Beauty, Snow white, Alice in Wonderland, Lion King, Aladdin...you get the picture!

We definitely know the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang!! Every morning, bright and early!!

I love Lilo and Stitch!! We're staying at the Poly and having breakfast at 'Ohana, so we'll definitely be watching that one! Who is Terk? I guess I'm behind on the characters, too.

At our fall JBF Consignment Sale, I picked up a bunch of older Disney movies (Dumbo, Bambi, Fox and the Hound, Pocahontas, etc.) for $1-3 each, so I'm hoping I can find more at the spring sale next week.

Terk is the gorilla from Tarzan....I think! He's really cute!!!

My almost 2 yr old DD is watching Disneyland Fun and the other one where the kids are all at the Beach. Disneyland Fun has kids, characters, songs, (that NEVER go from your head!) and shows rides and different places at Disneyland. Even though we always go to WDW, DL and MK are so close in design that my kids never knew the difference. The Beach one (I can't remember the name!) has Characters, kids, songs and shows resorts and waterparks.

My other 2 kids (now 5 and 7) watched these videos before their first trips and I have to say the videos are great! (Old school circa 1991 and 1995
but great!) Very catchy songs and even some princesses show up. Ariel sings in the Beach one.:thumbsup2

The Lion King, Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Mulan, etc.

The classics.

:lmao:

One thing I used to prep my son was Disneyland Main Street Parade video that shows the actual size of characters. When I took my DD the first time she was scared to death seeing Pluto and Goofy at 7 foot tall, so when I watched the parade with DS I would say things look like how tall he is.
The few we ran into they didnt know were Geopetto , Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum , Br'er Bear , Br'er Fox

we started having a "family movie night" with disney movies to get the kids familiar with the characters. we figured we would at least start with the ones that have attractions/shows. (little mermaid, peter pan, snow white, lion king, etc.) there's a thread on here with great ideas for themes- dinner, dessert, and games that go along with each movie. we just did the little mermaid on thursday. it was alot of fun for the kids (and the adults...)

have fun getting reaquainted with all the classics. :goodvibes
