Is there a place during online check in to prepay for tips? Just thinking about getting as much as we can paid for and out of the way. We would be giving a extra if the staff is great during the cruise.

Don't think so but just call DCL and tell them you want to prepay your tips. They will put it on your charge card for you. Enjoy the cruise.

No, there is nothing during online check-in that would link you to pre-paying tips or putting credit on your onboard account. You would have to do this separately by calling DCL or your travel agent (if you used one)

I planned on just going to Guest Services sometime during the cruise and authorizing it for my credit card then.

Aren't all charges from the cruise, including the tips, charged to your card on file at the end of the cruise? I'm just curious what the advantage is of prepaying them before you leave. We are leaving on the Dream next Friday for our first cruise ever so I'm not sure how this works. :)

Yes, if you don't prepay they will just be charged to your onboard account.

I add the tips when I book the cruise.
DCL knows too, they ask me now, " Do you want to add the gratuities now?" I'm glad they remind me.

We prepay ours. It's just one less expense to worry about after the cruise. Our room charges are always bad enough...LOL! One less surprise to avoid!

Our first cruise I called and pre-paid. For our last cruise I just budgeted how much I thought we would spend and loaded up our onboard account ahead of time from our Disney Vacation Account. Then at the end they were just automatically charged to our stateroom account. I plan to do the same thing again this August. I'll just let it bill to the room at the end.

I think if you prepay with a Disney Visa you get the points and the 6 months free financing. I'll prepay mine for that reason and use the rewards points on the trip.

I add up all our expected charges and add that amount to our onboard account pre-cruise using our Disney Visa. Like the above poster we get the points and the 6 months/0% perk.

We repeat cruisers know we will receive amazing service...prepaying our tips lets us avoid a long line at guest services, full of people wanting to increase their tips. For our Panama Canal trip next year I will likely prepay with an additional amount I have in my head, and if I feel that's still not enough I will add cash as well.

There is no real advantage. If you want to increase your tips, regardless of whether you've prepaid or not, you'll still have to go to Guest Services. If you don't prepay, you'll just get your onboard account charged on the last or second to last day and you don't need to go to Guest Services for that. It's totally up to you whether you prepay or not. The CMs don't get their tips until the end of the cruise regardless of whether it's prepaid or not so it doesn't affect their service. Essentially, it's just a credit on your onboard account.

If I want to add extra to the tip for servers or room attendant I simply put extra cash in the envelope you get at the end of the cruise for each person receiving a tip. Since the tips are automatically added to account I've never had to go to guest services.
