Do you do anything to prepare yourself physically for a trip to WDW?

I just realized that I have pretty much scheduled myself to be going from 6:30 am until midnight just about every day of our trip. When I was younger, this was no problem. Now, however, I suppose The Old Gray Mare- She Ain't What She Used to Be.

What do you do to get yourself ready to go go go from sunup 'til well after sundown, walking miles and miles every day?

-take multi-vitamins daily
-additional vitamin D
- work out at gym at least 3 days per week
- daily walks

What else?

I take Airborne every day. Use the treadmill religiously every day for 30 minutes (and yes, it is hard to fit in, but I just remind myself how many miles we will be walking every day!). It really does help with building up stamina. I also ensure that new shoes get a thorough breaking-in; new sneakers at WDW are a recipe for blisters.

We usually go in September so starting in June I "try" to take daily walks just to get use to it. And we're more active in the summer so that helps get our tolerance built back up. But yeah we take daily breaks or we'd fall over.

My mom is lucky enough to take two weeks off work. First for disney the second for resting at home lol.

If it's the season for it, I get my flu shot.

And then I reschedule everything so I can have my afternoon nap back at the resort. ;) For us, it ain't a vacation, unless it includes a nap!

Agree on the flu shot. We're November vacationers so I always schedule our flu shots 3-4 weeks in advance. I also stalk them with soap, sanitizer, etc. Normally, I'm a pretty chill "Hey, germs happen!" mom but not before Disney.

We are going for fourth of July. We have been walking after dinner as much as possible since April 1. I know it will never compare to what we will do on our trip but we call them Disney training walks and usually do 5-8 miles. At first my children grumped about it (2 thirteen year olds) but now they look forward to it. We have even gotten our neighbors into it. I do take Vitamin D daily and will continue.

We are going in September. I started on the treadmill a little over a month ago and have been walking 3 miles a night. In another month or so we will switch to outdoor walks in the heat. We did this before our last trip and it really did help.

Obviously it's smart to do a lot of walking the weeks leading up to the Disney trip. Also important to get a good night's sleep the two or three nights before the trip, as well as upping the Airborne/VitaminC/Coldeeze/EmergenC, anything to avoid getting to Disney World already tired/sick. Get your suitcases/carryons 95% packed early so you're not up late the night before packing last minute. I've also gotten in the habit of bring pre-peeled oranges/clementines/tangerines on the plane for a vitamin C jolt.

Once there, it's also important to make sure you can make it through the entire trip. I always bring two pairs of broken-in walking shoes and Body Glide, to prevent blisters. We bring Gatorade, Propel, Airborne, and Crystal Light powder packets to mix with the gallons of water we'll be drinking to stay hydrated. I'm partial to carrying mini-Clif bars for a quick snack, they won't melt or get smashed in your pocket.

We're going in early September and I've set a weight loss goal to reach by then. I do daily walks, am going to get into a routine of using my rowing machine, drinking lots of water, etc. Hoping to lose 30 pounds before we go which I know will make me feel a lot more comfortable in the heat not to mention able to handle the long days and all the walking. I don't think I can do what a previous poster suggested about waiting in the longer lines at the stores though, ha! :)

We also take after-dinner "Disney training" walks. Helps get our stamina built up and we talk about what rides, restaurants, other things we want to do on our trip.

I try and get out and do some power walking. Sometimes the dog walks with me, other times, I have a harness that he can sit in that is strapped to the front of me, and I will try and power walk like that. It's lugging an extra 10-12 lbs. So, I get conditioned to walking around carrying the extra load of his little keister, and then when I go without him, it's a little easier.
