Preparing t-shirt for Character signing

This past February, I dropped a white t-shirt off at guest services the first night. I didn't bring pens with me. They took the shirt and I had it back on the last night.

I don't know what type of pen they used, except that the ink was dark pink.

Its perfect!

I was just at Target and I noticed that Crayola has bright colored fabric markers. I am going to buy those test it out on a new t-shirt prior to cruising. I hope they work well, we'll see. :confused3

We were on the August 6 West Coast cruise and had a t-shirt signed. DD had included 3 Bic Permanent Markers for signatures; when the t-shirt was returned, the signatures were in a variety of colors not just the 3 colors she had wanted. She was thrilled with the shirt full of signatures...does anyone know who Suzie and Perla are?? Those sigs are on her shirt!

We are not cruising until January, but the tshirt/pillowcase thing is a great idea.

Here's another suggestion based on my experience. Every birthday I fabric paint "the birthday character of choice" on a white tablecloth for my daughter. When her guests arrive I have everyone sign around the character with a black Sharpie. After the guests have left I then trace over the signatures with coloured fabric paint pens. It works great! That way you only need to leave one Sharpie at GS. (she now has a tablecloth that shows 10 years worth of themes and guests).

Another idea: - how about a book bag signed by the characters. Just get a plain fabric bag to be signed. This will likely be laundered less than a t-shirt so the signatures wouldn't fade. They can then use this bag on future trips.

Definitely prewash anything you want signed to remove the "sizing".

Suzie and Perla are the mice from Cinderella. They are usually at the Park Faire dinner at WDW.

We just bought a 10 pack of the Crayola Fabric Markers at Jo-Ann for $5. They also had a huge selection of pricier fabric markers - $2 each for fine tip and $3 each for the chisel tip. There were close to 20 different colors in the fabric markers which you could buy separately or in 3-packs. The 3-packs were $10 ($2 x 3 = $6???? - $4 for a plastic package???). They also had glitter fabric markers. We didn't see any point in spending more for the individual markers. The Crayola set had a good selection of bright colors.

DW and the MIL made a character quilt using the fabric that you can run through an ink-jet printer. The quilt is more of a keepsake for DS, scheduled to enter this world in late December. Because of the way the characters are on the quilt, I doubt we will use it or wash it very often, but we were certainly concerned about fading.

Marypoppinsiam, please post with the results of the fabric marker experiment!

Fabulous idea about the tablecloth! Thanks for posting. Also, the book bag is another option I hadn't thought of.

Thanks so much for the info. We were thinking it was something to do w/Cindy but thought it was stepsisters!

We used multi-colored sharpies, and I prewashed the pillowcases, and ironed them on high after we got home. They didn't run on the wash - they look great, actually. HOWEVER, when I tested them, I just sprinkled a few drops of water on them, and that DID make the ink bleed. I believe it was just a little extra dye, that washed out completely in the washing machine.

hope that makes sense - and just to be safe, I would use fabric markers the next time,
