Preparing food in your hotel room, need some tips

You can use the microwave and toaster in the food court. They might even let you get hot water for nothing.

I had no clue that we couldn't use appliances. For my past five or so trips to POFQ I always took my own coffee maker and small toaster to prepare bagels and coffee for breakfast. Of course I always unplugged them when I finished breakfast. Housekeeping didn't say anything to me during those times and I had my "mini" kitchen set up on the table. I guess it could be a fire hazard if one were to leave them plugged in. I guess this December I'll be doing things differently.

Would this be allowed? Someone said no appliances are allowed?

Correct me if I am wrong- these rooms have refrigrators in them now-vs a hot pot....please people these are commerical buildings(hotels) it is not your minimal 60 amps. Call and ask if you can use-get your answer from someone in charge-

Some things we like to bring are pickled beet eggs hills shire farm summer sausage crackers and cheese, Oatmeal, spicy tuna, precooked chicken cheese sticks , nuts fruit.

Better suggestion: start a thread (or check the pre-trip reports board) for someone going to All Star Music soon, and ask them to ask a manager and let you know.

The people who answer the phones are in a call center and likely won't have the most accurate response.

We had cereal, granola bars, PB sandwiches and roll-ups (on tortillas). I also had lunch meat, cheese and pepperoni in the room for snacks. We had the QS meal plan, but my boys eat a lot!

I did also bring an electric skillet to warm up leftovers, or to make omelets in the morning.

We flew, so I packed a suitcase with the room temp foods and put a thermal bag with ice packs in one siutcase with cheese. We then had a grocery delivery for other items.

You cooked omelets in your room???

I've brought oodles of noodles cups and easy mac cups for a quick lunch... not the healthiest but works in a pinch. I've used microwave in the food court.

Did cup noodles one year. Just went to the food court. Ssked at the cash register for a cup to get hot water. She gave it to me, I got my hot water, and I headed to the room.

Another time, I brought everything to the food court and ate there.

What about those Uncle Ben's express rice meals? I buy them for work and pop them in the microwave. They would prob work well for something like this.

The issue with bringing your own appliances is that Disney cannot verify that they are in working order, unless it is provided to you.

If a fire does break out, and it is traced back to one of your appliances, you could be held liable for any loss of property or loss of life.

It has to do with the fire codes established at the local, state and federal levels.

How do you heat water in the coffee makers without everything tasting like coffee? I like to make hot tea when I can.

You can put a few lunch meats and a bit of cheese in the fridge. It looks pretty small though.

If you rinses it out with lemon juice it will have no coffee taste I just use a lemon juice pack from home.

Dh and I will be eating breakfast and most lunches in our room. We are taking bagged salad mix dressing, lunch meats, the cubed chicken in the deli meat section, bread, fruit, you get the idea, cold foods. We are also driving. We dont go to Disney to eat, we go to have fun!!

We love our Yeti but it stays at the lake. I cannot imagine taking a cooler to Disney. I am like you I hate even cooking dinner at home def. not on vacation.

Our Food items that we usually take consist of sodas, Dasani and maybe poptarts or breakfast bars. With DDP now we will get mugs so no need for sodas, and I'll carry a few Dasani, can always get them with a snack credit.
