Prepaid car rental voucher?

I read somewhere that you can go to your travel agent and prepay your car rental and receive a voucher to take when you pick up your rental car? Has anyone done this? Especially AAA?

I've heard of it, but I don't see why I would bother. You'll still need to present a credit card, license, etc when you go to pick up the car. Also, if taxes change, you will also need to pay any change in taxes.

I agree with the PP, why do that? Car rental prices fluctuate almost daily. I check often and invariably book and rebook the same car for less 6-8 times before I actually travel.
