Does anyone have any experiences with the bluebird by american express. I am thinking about getting one to put my food etc budget on it for an upcoming trip. Any advice would be great.

I have the very similar Serve by American Express card that I recently opened to stash cash for an upcoming vacation. It has been easy enough with a very user friendly app to track your account. The only downside that I can think of is that I have run into several places that don't accept American Express. (My bank couldn't even process it to transfer money). You also cannot use it to get cash back at purchase. ATMs are conveniently located in my area but I'm not sure about other regions. If I had to do it again I would probably choose a different option for these reasons. (Maybe an online bank- I may open a USAA account to take the place of the Serve card I use now)

American Express isn't accepted as widely as Visa or Mastercard, maybe consider one of those two instead.

We've got two. BlueBird's very popular for the points chasing/travel hacking crowd....

That being said, I haven't actually used it a lot besides paying bills. Their bill-pay/check option gives a lot more flexibility than standard prepaid reloadable visa/MC products.
