Has anyone done this? What does it cost and what do you get?

We have only ever seen the Electrical Parade once, in WDW many moons ago. I would love to see it again. We are going in August so I'm expecting large crowds. We are two adults and two teens, and we are a tall family, so would we be OK in the usual crowds or would you say that the premium viewing is worth doing?

Thanks for any info on this. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of this and, IMO it isn't worth it at any price.

The ELP starts in the PP section. If you walk to the Orange Stinger, the parade starts right across the street---you can't miss the two huge gates that it will come through.

Sit down right there. When the doors open, it is right in front of you. At the end of the parade, hang a left through the boardwalk section, and head towards Cal Screaming, or Bug's Life with minimal crowds.

This strategy WON'T WORK if you are gonna try to dash to DL for the fireworks! HTH!

Ummm, it worked for me! :rolleyes1

Maybe you can loan me your jetpack for my next trip!! :lmao: I won't move that fast on vacation! Maybe if it were a once-in-a-lifetime gig.....nah, not even then!!! :lmao:

Good luck with your plans, Mazzy!

We like to sit right across from the reserved seating for the ELP. We have never had any problem getting that spot and we don't show up more than 10 minutes before the parade.

DevilDuckie - thanks for the tip, whereabouts is the reserved seaing?

I'd be interested in know that too. I've never heard of premium seating for the ELP!!! Although we always wait it out and get greats seats on the street, I might consider it for next year if it's anything like the Fantasmic! premium seating. :confused3

DH and I splurged and did it last August on our honeymoon. It was great! I don't remember what the cost was (I want to say around $150 for the two of us) I'll look it up for you later. We received a wine and cheese platter, along with a perfect view of the parade. I think we had to show up 45 minutes or so early... I'll have to ask DH. We thought it was well worth the price and we'd do it again!

I felt the same way about the ELP, having very fond memories of it when I saw it at WDW in the early 80's. I wanted to make sure I had a great seat to see it this time. I didn't know anything about reserve seating for it.

What we did the last trip was make a PS at the Vineyard Room, we managed to finish eating just before the parade began and have desert right after. You may be a little further from the parade than you may have wanted, but on the other hand, you have few people around you and a broader viewing area so you can take it all in. You still hear the music fine. There also may be some trees in the way, but you see plenty.

I was very happy with how it all turned out, and the Vineyard Room is propably my favorite restaurant on property... Mind you, it can be pricy: For me and my buddy John, with a good bottle of wine and a full meal, we usually come out to about $120 before tip.

re: watching ELP and then dashing to see fireworks...

Is that the route you took out of the park? I'd like to try to do this. I'll have kid in stroller and I can walk very, very fast. LOL.

Yes, we watched the EP down by the Zephyr, and as soon as you see the America float coming, stand up and start moving toward GRR back trail. By the time you get to Sunshine Plaza, the parade will just be reaching there. You should be able to get out of the DCA gates and over to DL entry about 10 minutes before the fireworks go off. Warning, CM's at the DL entry move S L O W L Y during this time b/c they want to prevent you from trying to do both. Be patient. You should be able to at least find a spot standing on Main Street for the fireworks.

I had a stroller, two kids walking, a dh and a grandma in tow. So if I can do it, anyone can -- no jetpacks required. :thumbsup2

I've always been able to get good seats for the ELP, even in the middle of July. Usually 15-20 minutes before it starts I sit down and save my spot.

One year we were able to see it and make our way over and get a front seat for the second showing of Fantasmic. That was very nice! :)
