Just a quick question....
If you own DVC or rent DVC points from an owner, are you allowed to add on the premium plan since it is not technically considered a dining plan? For some reason, I think the answer is no but I wanted to double check.

Thanks in advance

You are correct. The answer is no. It can only be added to a full rack rate hotel room stay. You can however plan a premium stay in the middle of your points stay if you don't mind splitting your stay. A few friends and I did this over the summer. It was great!

Just wanted to add that I just saw your location.... I am from Easton!

How did you do that? Did you split your stay to stay rack rate in the middle. I'm considering doing the premium for a couple of days next year. That way I can do some tours and dbf can golf to his heart's content. We also both want to do the segway tour so I though couple days of this may be a good option. Also, say if you add the premium plan for a Mon and Tuesday ( total 2 nights) would your benefits actually be good until midnight Wednesday like the dining plans? Are your meals 3 per day of the 2 nights paid for...or is it a total of 6 credits that could be spread out over a 2 night 3 day stay?
Sorry so many questions....this is something new for us and there isn't as much info available on this.

Check out this thread! It is entirely dedicated to the idea of plopping a 1 night premium or platinum stay right in the middle of your stay! You need to purchase a 1 night stay at a Disney Hotel rack rate plus at least a 1 day park ticket. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2404255

We went to wdw... just us three friends... this past July just to do this! We were 2 DVC owners and a non... so we used points for 2 nights and stayed at POP for Premium on night 2. The plan is good from Check in on day 1 through midnight day 2! We stayed at 3 different hotels... Night 1 was Boardwalk Villas, Night 2 was Pop Century with the Premium Plan, and Night 3 was Saratoga Springs! The moving was easier than I thought it would be but only because my friend DisneyYES rented a car! It would have been impossible to get to all of our planned activities on time without it! We did a guided excursion on jetskis, parasailed, tubed, more jetskiing, more parasailing, segway tour at the Fort, Wild by Design tour at AK, Cirque, Fulton's, the Hoop Dee Doo, and Narcoossee's all in the 2 days! The Premium includes 3 meals per night ( 1 night on plan equals 3 meals, 2 nights equals 6 meals)... they can all be dinner if you fit them in:) I can find our itinerary if you are interested!

You can also do platinum... you must saty at a Deluxe hotel plus buy the park tix though. Platinum also includes V&A, spa treatment, Richard Petty experience and Wishes or Illuminations cruise.

I would love to see the itinerary if you still have it. I teach dance at Forks community center and Palmer community center...hehe
It really is a small world!

Hey Pm me if you want ...and if you don't mind me asking a million questions about how you accomplished your premium plan stay.

When did you find time to breathe? :faint:

When did you find time to breathe? :faint:

We even had an extra 30 minutes where we had extra time and I was bored! All three if us on the trip go to Disney often... I will be going down 5 times next year...so this kind of schedule is definitely not for those looking for relaxation but rather a disney adventure in a whole new way! We went on very few rides as we were doing so many other things! We slept when we came home!:confused3

No way! I have friends who keep trying to get me to go to zumba at palmer! I am not such a good dancer:(... I will dig up my itinerary tomorrow... and post! It is on that thread... page 38ish...to 42 ish maybe. Lots of good itinerary examples on there! Pm any questions away... if i can help someone else experience the fun we had... I am all for it! We are returning next summer to do the platinum plan!

Zumba at Palmer is a blast. It gets packed. I've taken it a few times and it's fun....mostly women of all ages, shapes and sizes going crazy.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for the itinerary. Dbf is forbidding me to start planning another trip yet since we just got back...but what else am I to do to feed my obsession. I did check out the premium plan staying at a moderate and it was totally do able for a night or two at the most. We have a friend we rent DVC points from, so we would probably do the majority of the trip renting pts from him and then a couple of nights at a mod. DBF would definitely not enjoy the all stars or pop.....too "in your face" Disney for him.

Don't tell dbf...but right now..trying to figure out a way to fit in halloween 5k, food and wine., a night on the premium plan and the swan and dolphin classic. Shhhhhh!

I just did a Premium Plan in Sept for one night (two days of fun!) The nice thing about the plan is that Signature Dining counts as one meal credit, not two as it does in the dining plans, and there are restaurants included that are not included in the regular or deluxe dining plans.

Since I flew in, I didn't rent a car and only used Disney transportation for the plan. It worked out ok. I stayed at Pop the day I arrived, checked back into Pop (same room) the next day for the first day of the plan, and the following day I checked out of Pop and into CR. That was convenient as Sammy Duvalls is located there and I then had all day (2nd day) for fun on the Premium Plan.

The thing I enjoyed most was the jet ski tour around Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon. I want to do that again! That tour is only offered in the morning and you make stops around the perimeter of the lake and the guide tells you interesting facts. At the end you get free time to race around in a designated area. I took my water proof camera and the CM took a picture of me on the jet ski with the MK in the background.

For the three dining credits I decided to eat at the Castle for dinner, Fultons in DTD, and the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at GF.

If you have any questions I would be happy to help you out.

My friend drove up from S. Florida, I flew in and got there around noon and checked us into Pop...I did tour @ AK 1pm, Dinner @ Yachtsman 7pm, LaNouba 9pm , on the first day. 2nd day I checked us out of Pop, we did Segway @ Epcot 7am, Parasailing 10:30am, Lunch @ GF Cafe 12pm , Private Golf Lessons 1pm, took a nap, Dinner @ O'hana's 6pm, and fireworks boat ride 7:30pm. Then we stayed @ Kidani for the next 2 nights on DVC.

It was fantastic! I would not do it with small children...they would not appreciate everything! and it is definitely NOT relaxing...especially if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck!

The advantage to doing it in the middle of your stay (unlike I did at the beginning) is that you can check in early in the morning and take advantage of the extra time...my 1st day did not start until noon...but that was the only way we could work it out that time...

ok...sorry guys...another question. I remember reading somewhere that some of the restaurants that aren't included on the regular dining plans are included on the premium and platinum plans. When I checked out the brochure for 2011, I did not see this mentioned. Any idea what the deal is on this and if the restaurants are still included, which ones? I thought I remember Fulton's being on there.

The bad part. If you rent a reservation from a DVC member, they might not allow you to add any dining plan because it now must be paid for when it is added to the reservation. They would probably want payment in full to make the reservation and add dining. And if you have any dining reservations that require a credit card to reserve, you will have to have the dining plan added before you can do that and not get the card credited after the fact.

I did read that. I think we will do one or the other. If we rent DVC again ( we rent from a friend) we usually pay him in full at the time of reservation and then he can add the dining plan on for us a little later.

If we decide to do the premium plan. We will probably stay offsite at Bonnet Creek and stay for a weekend or so at GF or Poly or something like that.

Thanks for the input though. I like the news that if you stay DVC you can split you dining plan days without splitting your reservation but I'm not crazy that you have to pay for it up front....oh well.:confused3

  • Can I be friends with you ladies? That sounds like my kind of trip. I don't get into "relaxing" on vacation. I can sleep at home!

Maybe dh and I can do this on one of our parents only trips one day.

Fultons was there for 2010 as well as Portobello--you'll just have to keep checking to see if it gets added for 2011. Victoria and Alberts is on the Platinum Plan. Someone said that Disney has to negotiate with the restaurants and then they get added. At least that is what has happened on the regular dining plan.

I don't see why not! We are going platinum this coming summer! We had such a great time we are doing it all again... only better!:goodvibes
