Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

I truthfully don't know what to tell you, other than you are getting close- about a month away. I know you want to book with AAA for the discount and parking pass, my advice if you can get a room for the same price you can get online and maybe have it be an upgrade, book it. That way you can get the parking pass and start making your important reservations. Remember you need that reservation number to book almost everything except dining.

I've been so busy with doing this AAA thing and trying to get our other accomodations worked out for the rest of our trip, that I haven't had a chance to call for anything yet!

We had a condo ready to rent for the rest of the trip, and the owner pulled our dates right out from under us!

I'll tell you, with the way this is going, I'm beginning to think God is sending me a message about taking this trip!!

I'm a little frazzeled so please forgive me if I have previously posted this question - I have three upcoming trips - Aug 24-Sept 2, Mid Oct, and Thanksgiving. I always pre-purchase the Photopass cd at the discount prior to my departure. I enter pics at last possible day, and I usually can get both trips on one cd. I can also pay a little extra for extensions.

Now here is my question - for those who have experienced platinum plans before :

I was planning to do a one night Platinum for each of my trips, however I am not sure that logistically I can pull it off for my Aug trip. I understand that the Platinum plan gives you a coupon code to apply to your photopass cd purchase zeroing out the cost. Would it potentially work if I do the platinum plan on my October trip and my first trips photos are on my account??

I dont want to be cheap , but it seems a waste to purchase a Photopass CD in Aug for $99 IF I am going to receive a free one in October.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yes, you can do this, it should be pretty easy since the trips are so close together. Last year we went in Oct. (no platinum) and then again in Nov. (1 day platinum). I was able to get pix from both trips on the free CD, no problems. I would just wait awhile to get started on the Aug. pictures and you should be fine.

I've done one day platinum twice now and 1-day premium once, thanks to all the great people on this thread. Now I'm toying with the crazy idea of trying to squeeze in one more platinum night before we lose this opportunity. And because I am just about out of vacation days for 2011 my best chance is to do it Dec. 31.

I haven't been keeping up with the thread lately, has anyone ever tried this over New Year's? I haven't called to check on tour availability (most interested in doing Seas tours again) and dining availability is very limited Dec. 31, but surprisingly open Jan. 1. My big question is fireworks cruises. I am guessing those are booked on the 180-day window, meaning they're most likely full Dec. 31, but some sites I've looked at say 90 days -- If so I have a shot. Does anyone know if they do cruises for both the 8:30 and midnight Wishes on Dec. 31?

Thanks!

I don't know if New Years Eve is different, but I definitely booked our cruise 180 days out.

I think the fireworks and Illum cruises book pretty far out. I tried to switch at about the 150 day mark for a non-busy time of year and only a party of 2 and couldn't. For the cruises they have specific spots for the Plat Plan and when those are full apparently that's it.

I thought I had everything perfect but then we had friends decide to join us for the last half of our trip so I switched our 1 day Plat Plan back a day to have more time to spend with our friends. It all seems to be working out but I'm wondering what happens if you schedule too tightly and miss something? Do you have to pay cancellation fees or does the plan just cover them or do they just ignore it? I have about a 3 hour gap that I'm probably going to fill with a few Sammy Duvall activities but I'm afraid it will be too cold to be comfy or we'll just want to hang at the pool a bit after a crazy day the day before. Day 1 we have a bunch of tours and parasailing and Day 2 is pretty empty between a spa morning and tons of evening stuff. It seems like lots of people seem to miss something and I wonder how that works out. OUr carriage ride is also a pretty close connection after Hoop....

Thanks!

THANK YOU!!!! This is exactly what I was hoping for!! Thanks for passing on the info!! :)

DH and I were discussing adding on a 1 nt plat for our upcoming trip.

* Are we obligated to use IPO for booking fishing excursions, spa, etc on the PLAT plan?

I enjoy planning things myself, so just wondering.

And another thing, * DH wants to start off fishing at 7 am. Is the earliest checkin time 6:30 am?

TIA

Bump

Anyone?

No, you may do your own reservations.

I called yesterday and did all of mine w/ the res line.

Very helpful CM on the other end.

Thanks Bentley!!

Can't help you on the fishing time. Maybe someone else can.

Or call the res line and ask them.

Good luck!!

I have heard the earliest you can check in is 6AM. If you check in then and either take a taxi or drive to the place you are doing the fishing, you should be fine. :-)

Thanks to this thread, I was prepared for some issues in scheduling the platinum plan. This is 4 days on platinum, Jan 29-Feb 2, 2012 at Grand Floridian. Two tours were billed to my credit card and La Nouba was scheduled for 2011 instead of 2012. Both issues were easily corrected and the planner has been helpful and responsive. Just a heads up - check carefully. Had I not been reading this thread for months, I might have assumed that everything would be flawless, given the price of the plan. No one is perfect, of course.

so...i took the plunge and booked a one-night Plat plan in December....now...I have ressies for V&A...is it one or two credits?? And how much time should I allow for dinner there? I'd like to V&A then run to catch La Nouba late show. ANy help appreciated. TIA.

ALready booked dh's Divequest...he just got scuba-cert and he'll be thrilled!

Every dinner including V&A's is only 1 credit on the plat plan. Congrats!!

From the other posts I have read on this thread, it sounds like you need to allow about 2&1/2-3 hours for V&A's. Don't forget travel time as well.

Book dinner for 5ish and you should be good for the 9pm Cirque. Let them know when you check in that you have the 9pm seating for Cirque.

answers culled from a thread search:

This is so exciting. I never really read about the premium and platinum plans before. We are going in Dec and I was thinking about going one day early and adding either the Premium package or the Platinum package. What is the difference in the two plans. The Premium plan can be added on when staying at any resort (but not on DVC points); Platinum requires that you be staying in a DELUXE resort. The benefits on Platinum are greater - Wishes/Epcot fireworks cruises, Victoria and Albert dinner, Richard Petty ride-along, etc. On the Disney website you can access and print out brochures on each to compare the benefits. I provided an overview of tours, recreation and extras below. Dining on both plans allows 3 meals (any type and most any place even if they are all 2 TS Signature meals - some restaurants that are NOT on DDP are included such as those at DTD) and 2 Snacks per person per day.

Also, we have AP. Since we have to buy a one day pass for the package, can we use the one day ticket and put that toward our renewal? Yes, that can be done. I thought I remember reading that before. Does this have to be done at Disney or can I do this on line/phone? I believe you can do it by phone, but I'm not POSITIVE - so give it a try and I'm sure they will let you know!

yes. i will be anxious to hear. As a DVC member with annual passes I do not need to buy park tickets to get the DDP. But I couldn't use my dvc points to use the Premium Plan. I had to Purchase at least 1 night at a resort plus a 1 day park ticket.
