Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

We head to WDW next week and will be doing the one night Platinum on the 11 th and12th. When looking at the extended forecast it looks like rain so now I'm wondering if this is the best idea. We have things like boating, parasailing, horseback riding, segway tour for DH, Steam train tour for DD and myself, fireworks cruise, all of which are outside. I'm just not sure that we will get the money's worth if everything is canceled. Since Cirque will be dark on Sunday and Monday that's out. I'm assuming that they won't do the drive along at Richard Petty if it rains right? Any ideas of things we could do that are on the plan that won't get canceled if it rains? We are already doing the spa treatments, Victoria & Alberts and Citricos. We wanted to do this to experience other things besides the parks. Any hope would be greatly appreciated. Reguardless of the weather we are soooo looking forward to this trip.

Can't offer any advice to you. We are worrying about the same thing for our trip.
Say your Pwayers, Wabbit!!

have you done the indoors things like Dolphins and Aqua tour? Behind the Seeds?
Backstage Magic is a partially indoors and they use a bus so they may run that?

I couldn't get Dolphin's in depth or Aqua Seas when I booked in June so I'm guessing booked but I will check again anyway. I have already booked Behind the Seeds for DD and myself, but since she is 10 so the tours she can do are limited. Thanks for the ideas. I had thought about canceling the package, but I think we will take our chances and cross our fingers that it will only rain when we aren't scheduled for something.

Well, if you've been to WDW often, you know that forecasts for 10 days out are mostly a shot in the dark. And at this time of the year, there's going to be a chance of rain almost every day, but it won't be an all-day-long kind of rain. Our typical summer rains are in the afternoons for 30-60 minutes and that's it. I wouldn't worry too much about it. The boating activities might be compromised if there are thunderstorms in the area because I'm sure they wouldn't send you up parasailing with lightning around. But I would expect the morning tours and such will be OK. Don't check the forecast again until about a day before you leave and see what it says then - it'll be much more accurate. :thumbsup2

Can someone who has already done one of the Platinum packages tell me what I should receive in my packet of paperwork when I check in at AKL?

I know all of the reguar package vouchers should be there, as well as our KTTW cards w/ one-day tickets.

We have res's for:
Dolphins in Depth
Aqua seas tour
Behind the Seeds
Carriage rides
Horseback riding
Parasailing
Sea Raycers
Dining ADR's
** I understand we should get gift cards for Cirque since they are dark that week?

Are there other activities we aren't signed up for that we would get vouchers for if we had a res for them?
I am asking this in case we add something on.

TIA!!

Hello,
I think I just convinced DH to book a one night Platinum plan for my birthday before the 2011 plan one night option disappears. There are two things I love, a bargain and WDW!:cool1: Of course, I have so many questions for you Disney Planning Experts.

First of all, for Victoria and Alberts, is this worth doing for a family? Our sons are 21 and 17. The 21 year old is a very picky and plain food eater (steak, fries, etc). The 17 year old has food allergies, but usually WDW is great with these. Finally, I am not an adventurous eater (apple didn't fall far from tree!) and also can't eat dairy. DH will eat anything without complaint. (He is great!) It's my 50th birthday and I would love a very special experience, but only if we are all comfortable with the food.

Also, in December, would we be able to do any watersports? (Please look into your crystal ball to predict the weather!) I am pretty sure we would need to reserve in advance, but if the weather is unsuitable, what is a good second choice?

Re tours, I plan to buy tickets to the parks for the days we doing the platinum because I don't really plan to do any of the usual park activities and because it is way to expensive for the short time we will be there. We plan to use our 1 day tickets either for a future trip or for our last day after plat. has expired. I was thinking about Dolphins and Backstage, but Backstage doesn't seem to be available that week at all (just before Xmas). My other choice would be Dolphins and Wilderness Segway.
I have many more questions, but I will save them for another post, 'cause I think this is plenty.
Thanks everyone!

Try V@A how many times will you get the chance? I heard they are good working with you so meal is great. Do watersports in Morning it rains in afternoon. Also less in Dec. We are doing one nite in 2 weeks doing backstage Magic sorry you cant. We are doing V@A followed by fireworks cruise. Your husband and boys might enjoy the fishing. They should try Segways.

i have to agree with Eddy...at 21 and 17, your sons are old enough to 'behave' themselves even if the food isn't what they truly love. It's an experience in the 'adult' world and I think it will be good for them.

We are doing the Platinum for one night in December and we aren't going to the parks those days...there just isn't time. We might have a meal inside a park but we aren't doing ANY park activities.

We are doing CRT for breakfast....i just want to take DH there.

We are considering giving away our LaNouba tickets if we can find something else we'd rather do that night. I guess I need to do a little more research.

Thanks for your input. I am sure they would "behave," I just want to make sure they would enjoy as well. :)

I think I am just about the pickiest eater anyone could ever meet and I absolutely LOVED Victoria & Albert's!

They tailored my menu, removing all seafood, since I don't eat it and there were still many options for me to choose from.

I think I ate almost everything, save for a few flowers & greens! (I know it's all edible, but my brain just kept saying flowers and "grass" are for looking at, not eating!)

It was an experience I'm glad I was able to have!

of course, I didn't mean 'behave' literally but i think they will enjoy it and it would be an awesome experience.

How about the Holiday D-Lights tour in December? That one looks great!

Hi all, just checking in. I won't be offically back from vacation until Sunday but I wanted to give you an update on how it went. First of all I had a total and utter blast. Here's what I did.

7:15 checked in at POP for my premium plan. The only special thing I got was a card that I was to hand in at Cirque
7:30 take the bus to Contemporary
7:50 arrive at Contemporary and eat breakfast at Contempo Cafe
8:15 head over to the marina and wait for Sammy Duvall to open up.
8:30 Sammy Duvall's opens up
9:00 Jetski tour
10:00 Tubing (only did it for about half an hour and then spent the rest of the time riding around the lake on their new boat, with the music blaring- totally fun)
11:00 Parasailing
12:00 head back to POP to shower and change
4:00 dinner at Fultons (I was hungry for lobster)
8:30 Cirque

Sunday
7:30 bus to MK and walk to Contemporary
9:00 Jetski tour
10:00 Fishing excursion
12:00 travel to DTD
1:00 Lunch at Fultons
4:00 hour of jetsking (if you havent figured out by now I really like jetsking, this time I was the only person out on the lake as no one else had reserved it during this time).
6:00 Carriage Rides x2 (got cancelled b/c of thunderstorms, didnt actually start raining until I got on the bus to POR so I had to take the trip down there and make sure that my CC was not to be charged)
6:45 Dinner at Artist Point (they were able to get me in early)

I will do the cost breakdown latter but from my initial calculations I got $1200 worth of value for the $169 that I spent. I'll be able to answer any questions when I get back on Sunday ( I might even answer some tommorow morning before I head out to MK before my 24 hours of internet runs out). So ask away!

Hey sarahgirl!!
So glad to hear your trip was so much fun!!
Hope you have a good time on your last days, too.
Have a safe trip home!!

Sarahgirl, glad to hear you had a great time on the package!

Also, if anyone will please confirm; can the PP CD be used for photos taken before and after our 1 nt Plat?

We received our packet today in the mail which included vouchers for Fantasmic, Illuminations fireworks, RP, PP CD, etc...and they all have the "good only for (Platinum dates)" printed on them.

I was/am really counting on this to save us money from having to purchase a cd.

Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience with this yet, but I've read that as long as you keep/combine all of your PP pics on one card, the CD will have all of them on it, whether or not they were taken during the Platinum portion of the trip.

Thanks for your help!

I assumed from reading pp that they would give us a voucher/code to use online... which would cover multiple cards. However, now it seems we're required to use the actual pp card included with the packet.
