Hi Guys

We have upgraded to PE and I was wondering if anyone wanted to share their pics of food, seating etc :goodvibes

Sorry no pics just wanted to say that we have been PE twice now but the food on the return flight this year leaved a lot to be desired - both the evening meal and breakfast :scared1:

I have to say the food last September was good both ways but between September 2007 and April 2008 they have changed it and not for the better. The breakfast is not even served on a tray  Dinner was the usual 3 options but even my DH who will eat ANYTHING didn't like it! Breakfast was a hot roll thing - sorry I didn't even try it so can't say what was in it and muffin. The roll was squashed and was sweaty as it had been heated in its plastic wrapper - yuk!

We will be going PE again as we like the extra room:thumbsup2 , upstairs cabin is fab:thumbsup2 and service of the crew is great (2 crew to 40 passengers  )

I am sure you will have a great flight!

Elise :goodvibes

Thanx for the reply :)

Food isn't a problem for us as we can't stand the stuff. We usually eat at the airport and buy snacks. We have had really nice crew staff before where they noticed that we didn't eat anything. One guy came back with a bag full of goodies such as crisps chocolates etc was really nice :)

We managed to get seats in the bubble both ways, which is v cool, just hope we still have them by the time we check in online 24hrs before.

Looking forward to the extra legroom and peace and quiet (hopefully)

Sorry have no food pics to share, we found the food OK anytime we fly PE. I would day it has got slightly better recently :)

Not too fussed on food to be honest. Apart from boarding and departing before everyone what other perks do we get?

We love PE. The extra legroom for me is a godsend and my wife is slightly claustrophobic so the extra space means she will fly.

The only downer is if you are downstairs, this happenned to us once and you end up with people from economy coming in for a walk around and using your toilets. so it's not very quiet.

Upstairs is fine. Is it worth the amount of extra money? I think the extra you pay is too much for what you get.

hi

wondering if anyone can tell me, we are flying pe next oct on our return flight for the first time, how do you book seats in the bubble? and will we be ok taking our kids up there? also if we can't get seats in the bubble what seats would be best otherwise?
thanks

bev :)

We have only used Premium Economy once, but in August have upgraded both ways.
At present we have pre-booked upstairs seats > Orlando and downstairs on the return.
I do agree that upstairs is nicer and quieter, it does have a slight disadvantage in our case though as the seats are in pairs and there are 3 of us.
That's why at present we plan to sit downstairs on the way back.

I agree you do get Economy passengers coming through and it certainly doesn't feel quite as exclusive downstairs.

Quicker check-in even if you do not do it online, extra leg room, seperate queue at Downtown Disney check-in, luggage comes off the plane first are the main reasons we upgraded.
To be honest going in summer and with rising costs whether it would be something we would do again I am not sure.

As far as I am aware you can take kid's up there, we have booked upstairs anyway.

You need to go on the 'Manage your flights' section on the Virgin Atlantic website. You may need to contact them though for your booking reference as it will not be the same one as stated on your invoice.

You can view the seating layout on there, personally feel it's best to have no-one sat direct behind you.

do we have to wait for 336 days before or can we do it now? we are not going till oct 2009

You have to wait - the flight won't be in VA's system yet...

oh that explains it! ive tried to look at our booking on VA and it doesnt accept the code given by Virgin Holidays.
so when we get to the 336 mark if we get the right code we should be able to manage our seats on the VA website?! please correct me if im wrong :)

Here are a couple of pics of the upstairs cabin. They're quite old (from 2002 and 2004, I think), but the cabin hasn't changed. It's possible that the Orlando route will have been upgraded to the new PE cabin by the time you fly.

Yes, you can def book kids up in the "bubble". There were lots of children on our flight at Easter in the bubble, all of them 5+ years old. Every single one of them beautifully behaved.

As for VA service, I was expecting better to be honest. I've flown BA recently long haul and the food and service was far superior in the Economy cabin. I would hesitate to book PE again. Crew were loud and disorganised.

Funnily enough, the thing I really liked was the large storage bins beside the window seats, far better than having to stuff everything into the seat pocket or jumping up and down to the overhead bins. This, plus the wider seat, extra legroom, small cabin are the only things going for it. Do not book if you expect to get a superior level of service, you don't!

Yes, but we did it through Virgin Atlantic not Virgin Holidays.
