Well... boyfriend has almost caved and okay'd a Halloween trip.

Now I am looking for a budget hotel with RER access as I don't particularly like driving again in fall... last time we hit a major storm and had to sit it out for almost two hours in one of those rest stations. I certainly don't fancy doing that again. ;) Plus we have a killer train rate at the moment.

We've narrowed it down to the Ibis Budget in Val D' Europe and the Premiere Classe Bussy St. George. The Premiere Classe is significantly cheaper. But the 10 minutes walk to the RER station does have me slightly worried. Boyfriend doesn't do mornings, so I'd be walking on my own most likely. Is the area safe to walk around in for a single woman? Also we'd probably do the Halloween party, so we'd be around again late at night.

Carrie if you read this, you posted such a great link for Google streetview and now I can't find it anymore. I am sure that would help me decide.

I've stayed at both Vala :).

The Ibis is much closer to the train station. The Premier Classe is perfectly safe to walk from the in the morning on your own, its mostly along well-paved dual carriageway, 10 minutes maximum. We walked it at around 8am and there were joggers, dog-walkers etc out at that time on the pavements.

Personally, I wouldn't really want to walk back there on my own late at night, but with your bf too, you'll be fine. I think the thing that put me off walking back there in the dark was that when I was there, there was green boarding up on one part of the road, which blocked off your view of the hotels as you approached the dual carriageway from the town centre. I'm not sure if thats there anymore.

Thanks Elaine.

It will probably now be the ETAP after all as boyfriend's holiday request was denied at work. :sad2: Solo I feel way more safe there.

i would never stay in the premiere classe again!!!

the rooms to the streets are very noisy, the room was not clean and the bed was terrible!!!

the better deal: B&B right next to the premiere classe...

another good hotel is the IBIS in val d´europe. close to the train station and great online deals!
