Prelude to a WDW Dream...Sept. 08 *NEW 9/9 Post 350*

I am sure how it took you so long...that SWEET baby girl you had! Being a new mom (especially a first time mom) gives you unlimited excuses for being behind on anything (even :laundy: laundry :lmao: ).

I'm printing this out for DH, k?
:rotfl:

Sorry to hear about Grandma.
:grouphug:

Sounds like a fun anniversary night. I've seen BMG before, but never at Universal, so I'm not sure which show they do there. It's a REALLY REALLY cool thing to see though!

Jay,
Thanks for the info about the pins I just ordered 12 pins form mikebiteme and they were 1.80 a pin thats not to bad. I will split them between my two oldest kids the baby is still to young only 2.9.

P.S. I finally got ADR's at Le Cellier

Jeanine

Sorry I have been (once again, it's really getting to be a BAD habit of mine) MIA. This past week we lost our dear grandmother (dh's dad's mom). She was in a whole lot of pain and had lived a very long (she was 96) and full life...but as always, saying goodbye is never easy for those of us that remain. I am happy that I had 15 years to get to know what a wonderful lady she really was. She definitely made a real impact in my life. She taught me a lot about loving, putting family first and always looking for the silver lining. She will be sorely missed. :sad1: But I am so glad that she is out of pain.:cloud9:

Oh Jay, so so sorry to hear of the loss of your DH's grandmother. :sad1: How is everyone doing? How is DH and how are you and the boys all doing? :sad1: Wow, 96yo, that is amazing!

OK, now to ff a bit on your trippie, I saw where you are in the "poncho" section for BMG........AWESOME, you will LOVE the show. :dance3: I took my family to see the BMG in Boston and had NO IDEA I had actually bought the "poncho" zone tickets until we got to the theater and was shown to our seats. NO SPOILERS FROM ME........YOU WILL LOVE THE SHOW FROM START TO THE VERY END!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

I'm FINALLY all caught up, I was waaaaaaaay behind.

Your plans sound awesome!

The birthday party sounds like it will be a total blast-I'm not sure if it has happened yet, but when it does (or if it has), please let us know how it goes!! :goodvibes

Also, I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm glad to hear she is no longer in pain and was able to live a long life. :)

Blue Man Group...I went in NYC, so I don't know if the show is the same, but YES, you will get paint on you! :rotfl: I'm trying to recall some of things they did, banging on drums that had paint poured on them to make some art. We were covered in toilet paper by the end of the show - we meaning the ENTIRE theater. Both the balcony and the floor. E.v.e.r.y. person. Um, audience participation DOES happen. Food is a prop and might end up in the audience as well.

Hmmm...that's all I can recall right off hand - not sure if the show is different now, or different in another location though. Every sense of yours will be used and be prepared to LAUGH! You will love it. I want to do it again! :woohoo:

Your anniversary plans sound great, Jay. And I'm like you, I would want to know all the spoilers!! Anniversary's are so much fun!
HA HA HA, I am almost afraid with some of the answers I have gotten. :lmao: Maybe I don't want to know the truth...being covered in paint, food and toilet paper is ummm....how shall I put this...FREAKY, but it could be fun. ;)

Oh my GOODNESS Jay....these in-room surprises sound awesome. I really wish you would just plan my whole trip out for me. You are so good at it!!!!
You know I will always extend my planning services to you! In fact, MSN soon, I have more ideas at the ready.

"a lard treasure chest" YUMMY!!! Okay now seriously, this dessert display sounds absolutely, positively SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Oh Jay...I can NOT wait to see pictures of this...this is just going to be incredible, I just know it. Hey, maybe you can ask the Culinary Artists....(that is what they are....ya know) if you could have a copy of the layout drawing for your WDW scrapbook!!!! How cool would that be??? (Well, I know not as cool as having the real thing right there in front of you....but I think the layout would be cool next to a picture of the real thing. Maybe you could even ask them to take a picture of the pastry chefs alongside their marvelous creation!!!!! That would be neat too....you know I am all about the pictures too. Hahahaha
I will have to get my hot little hands on the layout drawing. You are right, that would be the perfect addition to my scrapbook! I will ask if any of them are "about". I am obsessed with pictures and of course, I would like to remember those special people that make the magic possible.

WOW, that sounds like such a perfect party for Aladdin!!! I am sure all your little guys are gonna enjoy that. Jay..YOU ROCK!!!!!

It will be perfect if we ever have it. That poor boy has been waiting and waiting. We had to cancel it the first time because we were coming back from the funeral on the original date. The make up date had to be canceled because the Little Prince had double ear infections (and that means neither of his parents had much sleep at all and I was getting sick from the lack of it). This weekend is supposed to be his make up for his make up party but...well, I am almost scared to think it will really happen. Cross your fingers for him!:thumbsup2

Jay...I am soo very sorry for your loss. She sounded like a wonderful woman!!!!!

She really was a wonderful woman and still is a special part of our lives. Just last night I made homemade noodles with her recipe. Of course, that reminded us of her, so our dinner conversation centered around all of our best memories of her. It was good to think of her and do so much laughing and smiling.

WOW...the Blue Man Group...I have heard of them....I can't wait to hear all about this as well. Does your DH know he is going to be seeing this show yet?ummmm....NO!! :rotfl: I figure it's every man's dream to spend his 13th anniversary covered in a poncho, paint, food and toilet paper. :rotfl: He has said before he thought it would be neat to catch a Blue Man Group show when they came to a city near us. And he will get totally into the paint and stuff flying. I on the other hand may leave in a straight jacket. :scared1: It should be a whole lot of fun!

My reply is in red.

Poncho zone!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!:scared1:

Not for me, honey!!

My BFF went to see them in Chicago a few years ago. I will see if she can shed some light on the poncho zone & let you know. Just like you & Heidi, I like to know what's coming, too! (Hi, Heidi!)
Thanks for the PM Barb. I am intimidated, but I figure, you only live once. I am just going to go with the flow and enjoy it for what it is. Did I mention our tickets are in the FRONT row?! OMGosh!!! OH but I must find out how to get a Happy Anniversary wish for dh up on the red scrolling announcement ticker thing before the show (I read in a TR that a woman wished she would have done it for her son when she saw those scrolling before a show). That is one of the things I am currently trying to figure out.

I've got a friend that goes to see the Blue Man Group at Universal's Citywalk every year but do you think I can remember anything about the show she's told me? I've seen Artist Point pictures and the food looks fabulous! Sounds like a great anniversary night, Jay!
The food does look SCRUMPTIOUS doesn't it? Dh and I should both find something we love on that menu! I am very excited for this meal! I am just about to place a call to the IPO to arrange for an in room sitter for the boys. A night alone with dh...I really do cherish those!

HA HA HA You tell him not only do you have that excuse, but after looking at those pictures, I swear you have only to point to her and claim that you carried an angel inside of you...so you have to do nothing more than fawn over her now. It's your right as a mom of such a beautiful little one! She is just precious.

Thanks for your condolences.

And yes, I hope it's a fun night. I am actually looking forward to this, I just have a healthy dose of "what on earth did I just sign myself up for-ittis" rolling around in my stomach. :rotfl2:

Let me know when your pins come in! We have almost 200 of them! BUT WAIT, we do have four pin traders in the family...so that is only about 25 each which has to last each of us for a little over a two week vacation. :rolleyes1 Okay, it's still just a tad bit over the top...but I plead for understanding, I just get a bit carried away sometimes.

OH LE CELLIER! We are sadly skipping it this time (I make us try at least one new place each trip and this time it just so happened to be Rose and Crown at EPCOT so we didn't have any open meal slots at there). I am hoping to find another family favorite. But I really will be missing Le Cellier...especially the pretzel bread and cheese soup. YUM!

Oh Jay, so so sorry to hear of the loss of your DH's grandmother. :sad1: How is everyone doing? How is DH and how are you and the boys all doing? Wow, 96yo, that is amazing!

Awww come on Kar, I will beg for details. :flower3: I am sure it will turn out to be a great night.

You are moving to the west coast?! Do tell!

And thanks so much for your thoughts. Everyone misses her, but when someone has lived such a full life, it's much easier to celebrate their time here rather than wonder what if they had been given more of it. KWIM?

How early did you get to the BMG show? Do you have any idea about how to get something added to the scrolling ticker before the show?

I'm FINALLY all caught up, I was waaaaaaaay behind.

It's great to hear that those who have gone would like to go again. I am always up for fun!

I am thinking dh and I will have to change between our dinner at Artist Point and the show. I don't think I want to chance getting paint on anything that would be "within dress code" at Artist Point.

Hi Jay!!! Well to make a long story short, I am thrilled to have found your pre-trippie!!! My puter crashed a while ago and I lost all my FAVS. I cannot wait to see pics of your kids, especially Prince he must be getting big. So happy to read along your plans....as usually everything is just fabulous. Gotta question for you, have you ever enrolled your kids in the Grand Floridian Cooking Class....I'm planning on enrolling my DS6 this trip as he loves anything pertaining to food/chef...lol. It's really cute as I watched an episode on Food Network Unwrapped and got the idea. Your thoughts on this....Thanks and I'm in!!!:) P.S. Also, I'm thinking of having him join the 'Sandcastle Club' (Childcare Services) one nite so Dh and I can have a special dinner at Yachtsmen...I'm so Nervous about this...I know I shouldn't be but I'm just spoiled by having him watched by family members since he was born. How have your experiences been by using the hotels club's? Take Care and Continued Happiness Planning :goodvibes

Hi Jay I got the pins yesterday. They are so nice my DD who is 4 wants to keep them there was one Ariel than a Wicked queen Tinkerbell. She was like mommy I am not trading these pins. I tried explaining it to her but I don't think she was getting the concept :rotfl: My DS is very excited to trade his. I also buy them some when we go there but I don't let them trade those. My trip is here in less than 10 days I am so excited and nervous at the same time. MY DS 2.9 fell on saturday and cut his knee it got infected and the doctor put him on augumetin and he got an allergic reaction and he has hives all over his body. This poor thing is so miserable. I hope they clear up before my trip. Well I am enjoying hearing about all your plans.

Hi Jay,
This is so much fun to read about your plans once again! I am so interested in hearing about the BMG... I am wishing your trip was sooner so that we can see pictures and hear the stories!
Today is Saturday... did the party happen??? Hoping that it did! :)

Welcome back! ;) I know what a total bummer it is to have your computer crash. I have lost a lot of information that way myself.

We have not explored the Grand Floridian Cooking Class yet...but it sounds intriguing. I am going to look into it as a "down day" activity for the two middle boys. I think they would just eat it up (pun intended).

Our guys all loved the children's clubs! In fact, last year we had them stay at the Cub's Den one full day (4:30-almost midnight) while dh and I did the AKL safari, Jiko dinner and Cirque. After all of that time, they BEGGED for another night there so we added on a few hours there later in the week. We also took them to the Neverland Club at the Poly during the same vacation after we had moved over to the GF and they enjoyed that as well. The Disney kid's clubs get two thumbs WAY up from us!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I feel your daughter's pain! HA HA HA I have trouble letting go of some of the pins we get from that seller as well...not that I am wishing for "bad pins" but they are so nice that you don't want to trade them some of them...and trading them was the point of buying them in the first place.

Here's for hoping that your DS's knee is well on the way to healing. Before our trip in 2006 Goofy got stung by a hornet, had an allergic reaction to being stung, the sting site got infected and he had to be put on antibiotics, the antibiotics caused an allergic reaction and he got hives all over his body. After that, some of the hives got infected and he had to go on another antibiotic to clear it up...that POOR child was miserable for almost two weeks straight. BUT, in the end all was well and he was able to enjoy our vacation "spot free". I am sending pixie dust and best wishes that your ds is also fully healed before your vacation starts!:wizard:

Today is Saturday... did the party happen??? Hoping that it did! :)
YES the party has officially started! :) The boys started off with a movie (Space Chimps) and then we went out and got pizza (with our delays it was no longer playing at the movie tavern where you can get dinner while you are watching the movie). On a side note, I had very good basil, fresh tomato, mozzarella and basil pizza. We got all of the party goers their own mini pizzas (which they loved) and then we headed over to Cold Stone Creamery for an ice cream treat. After that we came back home and the boys had their Indiana Jones themed hunt which went over HUGE! ALL of the boys loved it. They were laughing, running and searching for almost 30 minutes. After the search was done, the silly string war started (and I went inside since I did not have a death by silly string wish). They are outside with their glow sticks having a ball playing some sort of crazy game of their own making right now. Dh is actually wrangling them in right now to start their Indiana Jones movie marathon. I am so happy that it all went according to plan (even better than planned). I will try and get a few snapshots uploaded within the next few days and post a few of them enjoying the treasure hunt! :thumbsup2

WOW Jay...the party sounds like a blast!!!! You really know how to do them up right!!! The silly string is perfect for boys that age!!! Hope they don't keep you awake all night long....hahahaha

I'm so happy the birthday party went so great!! It sounds like it was a blast (of silly string!! :lmao: )

Yay! The party sounded like a great time! I love treasure hunts, we do them at Christmas. Hopefully you are recovering from the big event! Silly string is the best! :rotfl: Do post some pictures!

Glad Aladdin's birthday went so well! Sounds like a perfect birthday party for a group of young, rambunctious boys! pirate: :thumbsup2 Hope to see some pictures very soon! popcorn::

Jay, my granddaughter took the cooking class at the Grand when she was about 8-9, one of the oldest kids in the class - she had fun, and the photo ops afterward were a HOOT. AT that time, they had chef's hats, on which they put their names, they made aprons - the big white ones - with hand prints all over them - and then - it was either flower pots or worms in dirt, I forget, but I do know it was chocolate and messy.

The Blue Man Group sounds like great fun! I don't think I'd be brave enough to sit in the "poncho zone" though! Is September here yet? I can't wait to read about this trip!

It sounds like Aladdin's birthday party was a hit - good job mom!

Jay, I forgot to ask this and sorry if I sound silly, but are you expected to tip the sitters at these resort clubs? How do they charge you for the sitting service...meaning do they put it on your hotel bill ? Thanks :goodvibes

They actually did not keep us up all night long...although I must admit I sent home VERY sleepy guys the next day. ;)

I'm so happy the birthday party went so great!! It sounds like it was a blast (of silly string!! :lmao: )
HA HA HA It was a blast. I had so much fun watching them (when they didn't know I was watching of course, it would not be "cool" to have your mom standing around watching your silly string war, so I had to hide out in the house and peep through the windows. ).

Yay! The party sounded like a great time! I love treasure hunts, we do them at Christmas. Hopefully you are recovering from the big event! Silly string is the best! :rotfl: Do post some pictures!
I just loked at my photos from the party. THEY STINK (an understated way of putting it). I had the wrong setting picked on my camera and they are all blurry. How do I always manage to do things like this with my pictures?!:sad2: :rolleyes1 I guess it wouldn't hurt me to take some sort of picture taking class. :lmao:

Glad Aladdin's birthday went so well! Sounds like a perfect birthday party for a group of young, rambunctious boys! pirate: :thumbsup2 Hope to see some pictures very soon! popcorn::
How is your mom doing? I hope her bout is passing. Give her a hug for me (unless of course it might hurt her). My boys saw the pictures of you as a little girl with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they were JEALOUS!! They thought you were very lucky indeed!

That's great to know. I am thinking we will sign Goofy and Stitch up for this class the day of our MNSSHP and "perfect" afternoon. It should be a fun start to the day for them!

The Blue Man Group sounds like great fun! I don't think I'd be brave enough to sit in the "poncho zone" though! Is September here yet? I can't wait to read about this trip!

I didn't say I was brave enough to be sitting in the poncho zone. I am just crazy enough to be sitting there! :rotfl2: I really do think I may live to regret it. :lmao: But I figure dh will enjoy it and thus I can say, this surprise is totally for him. That should give me some sort of brownie points for future WDW trips I hope!;)
Jay, I forgot to ask this and sorry if I sound silly, but are you expected to tip the sitters at these resort clubs? How do they charge you for the sitting service...meaning do they put it on your hotel bill ? Thanks :goodvibes
Nope, no tipping at the Disney childcare clubs. **At least I never have, nor have I ever heard about anyone else doing it either. It's always a crew of CMs watching all of the kids so it's not as if it's a single sitter to tip sort of situation.** And yes, you just hand over your room card and they add the fees for the club right on to it and you settle it at the end of your stay with the rest of your bill. HTH.:thumbsup2

Up next- A very short mini trip report on our time in Pittsburgh (as promised to Skygirl).

Dh had to be at a meeting in Pittsburgh, PA for the week so the boys and I decided to accompany him and spend some time exploring the museums and zoo there. Our first full day in Pittsburgh we headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. Although it was not our favorite zoo, we did have a nice day.

Our first stop on arrival was the concession stand. We dined on pizza, chicken strips and french fries (very health conscious :lmao: ).

After feeding my hungry animals we went off to see the other animals.

After spending a good four hours at the zoo, we were tired out. We made our way back to our hotel and collapsed into a blob of television watching, nap taking and drink swigging. After our rest we ordered room service (very good) and then headed out for a night of shopping. We were staying at the Pittsburgh Marriott North. It was a nice hotel.

The next day found us heading for The Carnegie Museums of Natural History and Art. We had a lot of fun here. All of us would welcome a return visit to this complex. We enjoyed the entire museum(s). The only complaint I have is finding an elevator that would go down to the basement level (where the family food court area was) was very confusing. We even asked employees to show us where it was and not once but three times we were shown to the wrong elevator! :lmao: Confusing is actually an understatement. :rotfl:

As confusing as that was, the exhibits were very well laid out, educational and fun!

Aladdin loved this display! He is a huge Indiana Jones nut so seeing a crystal skull in person was very cool for him.

We loved the dinosaurs!!

By far all of our favorite part of the museum complex was the architecture area of the art museum. We picked up copies of the kids activity booklet for this area had a great time finding things, drawing and filling in the answers. All of my boys gave this area two thumbs up (including our Little Prince who cooed at everything in sight).

Aladdin with a bust of Zeus. He is very interested in Greek mythology so this was a requested picture that he has since printed out and hung on his poster board in his room.

The entire gallery was enormous, light, airy and open. The grand scale of the displays (about 99% of them were life size plasters of the originals or the originals themselves) and the space their were in is not captured in the pictures. It was an amazing space that I could have spent an entire afternoon in soaking up the beauty. As it was we spent well over an hour and a half exploring it and it was finally hunger that drove us out and on to the food area.
