I am wondering if anyone has had problems getting preloaded medical syringes on airlines? I have read the transportation site where it states they can be brought for diabetes, but if they are not diabetes... Seems the same thing would apply, but just wondering if anyone has had an issue with medication going through with your carryon.. specifically preloaded syringes... ours have to be kept on ice the entire trip. Thanks :)

You need to have a legible note from your doctor stating what they are. Check with your specific airline as to their policies.

The airline ( general) website states a prescription label but it also specifies diabetes. I am assuming this will be ok even if not a diabetes medication, but will check with the DR about a note as well just to be on the safe side. Thanks :)

I was stopped on my flight to Orlando for the prefilled syringes
(copaxone for MS). They asked to see a doctor's note and a supervisor was brought over and she recognized the medication and said it was ok.

A friend of mine has 2 children with life threatening food allergies and she never goes anywhere without their epi-pens. She was expecting trouble, or at least questions, at the airport and was prepared with medical documentation of the need, but no one even said anything to her. And she flew out of Logan!

Laurie :)

I have made 4 trips in the past two years with my son's Epipen Jr. in my carry-on bag, and no one has ever said a word!
