Pregnant woman in a BIKINI at Sesame Place today..

look at it this way- They look pregnant and cute now. Surely better than some women in bikini's that shouldn't be wearing them and aren't pregnant that I see at the beach/pool. Besides, wear it now beacause it may be the last time. You know..after the stretch marks, varicose veins and extra skin appear. They might not have the chance again! lol. :teeth:

I have no problem seeing a pregnant belly...its a beautiful thing and nothing to be ashamed of. DH thinks a woman is at her sexiest when she's pregnant(which was SO good for me when I certainly was NOT feeling very sexy ;) )

I am 8 months pregnant, have no stretch marks even with this being #3, and, so far have never had a problem getting back into shape after each of my kids, but would never wear a bikini pregnant (Ok I wear a takini, but...). But I admire the beegeezers out of women who do. Most of them look fantastic, even with stretch marks! They're proud of what their bodies can do and how they look. It's so much better than being miserable all the time. All the power to them. Who am I to judge?

I was at Sesame Place two weeks ago and I have to say that an uncovered pregnant belly would have been a welcome sight compared to some of the things I saw instead. I don't get why people are so scandalized by the sight of a pregnant woman's belly?? Sounds like vestiges of the same mentality that meant women who were pregnant had to be "confined." :confused3

I don't understand why some people believe women should hide their bodies when they are pregnant like there is something wrong with them. Our society has some weird rules IMHO.

I usually don't put to much thought into what other people are wearing or doing. I know I wouldn't want people looking at me funny or talking about me if I chose to wear something "unacceptable" so I don't think about it.

I wear one! Beats the ugly maternity bathing suits from thyme•maternity. Who are they designing those for - grannies?

;)

I am guilty of this. I wore a bikini in public 3 weeks before my oldest son was born.
My reasons for doing so were because maternity bathing suits are ugly. On top of that they are expensive! I didn't have the cash to spend $70 on a bathing suit I would only wear for a few months.
I don't regret it at all.Especially since I can't wear a bikini now :rotfl:

I totally agree! I wore a bikini throughout my pregnancy and I felt damn good about my body!
I'm shocked that some people actually find that offensive, get a life!

Boy, I hope I don't get flamed here but personally FOR ME, I would not wear a bikini pregnant. I was ENORMOUS w/all 3 of my girls...they weighed 9 lbs, 8'4 oz and the last one was 10 lbs 22" long!! However, I wouldn't wear a bikini in public now either. In my own backyard, yes, but not at our local country club pool or anywhere else in public.

Two weeks ago when we were on our family vacation in FL there was a lady that was in her early to mid 40s and a good 40 lbs overweight wearing a string bikini!! This to me was in very poor taste. I wear a 2 pc that has a tummy band on it so hopefully I don't look too bad.

Everyone is different...

But what is so wrong about a pregnant woman bearing her belly? I don't think there's anything disgusting about it at all!!! Why should any woman feel the need to hide it??? Like they did something wrong... I don't get it. I don't understand how a pregnant woman's belly is offensive to others.

When I was pregnant, I liked to wear form fitting clothes that fit my belly snugly. Wearing clothes too big for me or to hide my belly just made me feel ugly and were too overwhelming for my petite frame. One older nurse that I worked with said, "I can see your belly. (no, really?!) You should be wearing a bigger, looser shirt. When I was pregnant I wore my husband's large shirts to hide my belly?". I shrugged it off and continued to wear cute maternity outfits that hugged my expanding belly and I loved it. On a few occasions, strangers would come up to me and say "You are just the cutest pregnant lady I've ever seen"... Weird, but I was always flattered :goodvibes

I think pregnant bellies are cute and if the woman has the guts to wear a bikini, more power to her! After that belly goes down, it may not look as cute. :earseek:

i agree. if the woman is otherwise in shape, it is quite sexy. she is proud of ner body & her condition.

I agree, more power to her, if she has the confidence. There is no reason to hide if you look and feel well. She looked fine to me, but there's no way I would do it. I felt like a house when I was pregnant.

It was DH who said, who wants to see that? And really, who wants to see his gut stick out over his bathing trunks, for that matter? Tara, we saw a LOT of things that should have never seen the light of day there!

:earseek:

I get more brave with each pregnancy---a nice smooth, markless belly--to me is AWESOME. Why not showcase it. No need to hide under a tent!

However a bikini by anyone at Sesame Place---isn't that an amusement park?? Would a bikini/swimsuit by anyone be appropriate.

ETA: though not a bikini--I do have my tummy hanging in a photo studio in the mall...here it is. I actually made them use the one with my head cut off b/c it looked so bad. :rotfl2: (funny facial expression that just didn't come across well on camera--this shot was taken headless...I didn't have them chop my head off :wizard: ). I was convinced I was going early--so had this taken much sooner than I would have liked...at 7 months pregnancy.

I saw a pregnant lady at the pool. She looked like my great-aunt Mabel, you know, the one with liver cirrhosis and a behind like a Mack truck.

Wouldn't have bothered me, but no, I personally wouldn't wear one (not even without being pregnant!)

I, too, was at a water park yesterday.

Here are some things I saw:

cellulite of all kinds, both on large and small women and men

men in teeny speedos

well endowed women in maillot type swimsuits with no supprt (shelf bra, underwire, etc.)

women in thongs

men with thick carpeting of hair on their backs

extremely obese people in skimpy, unsupportive swimwear

kids allowed to run around naked

very young girls (ages 8-14 or so) in teeny bikinis, some on very well endowed girls (too many hormones in chicken these days, I swear!)

a woman in a long sleeved shirt and capri pants swimming in the wave pool

men with severe gynecomastia

and the one that really really really bothered me:

4 teenage girls (maybe ages 13-14) being obnoxious in the park- sneaking in beer, one talking loudly on her cell phone to her boyfriend the entire time on line for a ride, all in teeny bikinis - one was pregnant. Seeing such a young girl pregnant and acting with such little regard for the world around her really upset me.

Some of the other things caused me to look twice or to giggle or to wonder to myself, but they didn't really get to me.

I hope I can wear a bikini when I'm pregnant :rotfl:

Seriously, I think pregnancy is BEAUTIFUL!

I don't get the 'ewwwwwwwwwww' thing that the OP said. I mean, it might be a bit 'eww' if she was overfat, but as long as she was a healthy pregnancy weight then I imagine she probably looked great (glowing, maybe).
