I was wondering if any of you have been pregnant during a trip to WDW? I just found out I am pregnant and will be almost at the end of my 1st trimester during my trip. I don't want to ruin the trip for everyone else, by being tried or sick. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for me.

I feel your pain girl
I'm 5 1/2months pregnant and am going aug9-11 to epcot.

My only advice:have plenty of water handy and take your time, even if you have to have some one push in a wheelchair
(hey you might get in the front of line)lol

Good Luck!;)

I actually did the wheelchair thing once, but didn't go to the front of the line, because I told them I wasn't handicapped. Not wanting to get too personal here, but it was a certain time of the month & I just couldn't do all the walking because of pain & for other reasons that only the women here understand. So, I had my sons push me around. It WAS back when they WOULD put you right to the front of the line, too.

For a long time now they have been bringing the wheel chair people to the handicapped entrance/exit & making the rest of the part wait in the line & then the wc person is joined with them when they get there.

Anyway, this is a possibility for you. I went to WDW several times pregnant & the two things that stand out in my mind are:
1) A lot of resting time on the various benches
2) Could not take EPCOT at all. Way too much walking there

I have four children and have been to Disney 5 times since my first one, so I have probably been pregnant at Disney. They have lounges in each park that are fabulous. Mainly used for nursing, but they would welcome pregnant people with no problem. They all have rocking chairs. It is a wonderful place to get away from the crowd. You can ask a cast member and they will lead the way. Have a great time.

I was pregnant on our last WDW vacation in August of last year---7 months pregnant!! I drank a lot of water and made sure to cool off as much as possible in shops, etc. In the afternoons, we enjoyed the pool at th Beach Club. Besides not riding a lot of my favorite rides, it was just like any other Disney trip. I had a wonderful trip and look forward to taking my daughter in 2 weeks for her 1st trip to WDW!!!

Congratulations on the pregnancy.

I visited WDW when I was 4 months pregnant and My advice is just like the others make sure to sit and rest whenever it is necessary and STAY hydrated. Sometimes it is better to take the boat to World Showcase instead of the walk and remeber to try and stay cool, in the AC if possible.

It is just a little disappointing not being aboe to go on some of your favorite rides but it can still be very enjoyable.
Good Luck and Have fun.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

My husband just said he wants baby #3. Well if all goes as planned I will be at the end of my 1st trimester while at WDW also. Our trip is planned for The last week in December. I too am worried about being sick and tired. But my ob/gyn gave me a prescription for my last pregnancy for nausea. It worked wonders!!! I'm hoping if I'm pregnant, he'll give me the same prescription for our trip.

I think this might make your trip relaxing. You can enjoy the Disney parks but will miss some of the rides.

Congratulations!!!!

Thanks to all for your advice. I go to the drs today and should get a due date. If I'm right by the time we go I will be very close to the end of my 1st trimester so I should be feeling better. (Not that I feel all the bad right now) But I did think there is no way I will be able to walk all around Epcot. I just wish my DH understood what it's like to be pregnant. He doesn't understand my concerns!!

Congratulations!!!
I am interested in these tips too... hoping I'm going to have a reason to be soon!

I got pregnant in Disney World does that count, with twins no less!!! tee hee...

2 trips ago I went while I was 5 months pregnant. I found that I actually had more energy to see things than my DH and my 4 year old DS! We went in February.

A couple of things that I would suggest:

* Make sure that you don't get dehydrated or hungry. When I am pregnant (which I am hoping is never again :p ), if I don't eat I feel awful. This means that little snacks are a must -- what better place to do this than Disney???

* Take breaks when necessary. Let your body make the schedule and try not to push yourself. You may be able to do Epcot if you take the appropriate time to slow down and enjoy it. You may find more things than ever before just by taking this easier pace.

Have a great trip!

Just wanted to say congratulations and that I'm leaving for Disney Saturday, August 30th and will be 29 weeks / 7 months - however you want to look at it (the whole weeks vs months thing just confuses the crap out of me). I will second what everyone else has said though - I've asked the same question before, my advice isn't first hand - take it slow and drink lots of water. Depending on when you are going (November/Decemberish??) it should be a lot better because it will be a comfortable temperature. This is my first pregnancy and I really haven't had and symptoms that would have kept me from Disney - I was tired the first trimester - but sleepy tired....I'm probably tire physically more easily now. You will have a great trip....just use common sense and listen to your doctor:D

for our upcoming trip to WDW. In fact, I'll be right at the end of my first trimester. I haven't gotten nauseous with my last pregnancy or (so far) with this one, but I do get exhausted.

A few tips based on my last (non-pregnant) trip to WDW: take lots of bottled water & any comfort medications that you may already be using at home (for me, I go through Tums like crazy when pregnant), know the locations of the fruit stands and visit them for a healthy snack (they're pricey, but still reasonable when compared to other snack options in WDW), pack your own healthy snacks, plan lunch in a quiet area where you can sit-down and relax, and don't be afraid to tell the rest of your group that you need a break. I also highly recommed a nap right before dinner -- really gives me the umph to make it through dinner and on to a show afterwards! Also, wear comfy clothes with room in them and definitely some comfy tennis shoes with good support for all of the walking.

Know ahead of time which rides you'll probably want to skip. We plan to take our toddler on the kiddie rides together and then my husband will go on a few adult rides while my son and I head back to the hotel for a nap before dinner. (This worked well for us on a recent trip to Disneyland.)

Basically, try to get lots of rest, eat healthy, be comfortable, and listen to your body so that you can give it what it needs.

Best of luck with your pregnancy!

Hi and congratulations! An easy thing to bring that could be important is a medical card that indicates you're pregnant with your blood type, any allergies, etc. Sometimes in case of an emergency (knock on wood) people get flustered and can't remember vital info. This card has everything on it and is filled out by your Ob/GYN. I carried one during my last pregnancy and let my husband know where I stored it just in case. Hopefully there is no use for it - but it's easy to bring and good to have ;) Have fun!

Tracy, WOW, the very same thing happened to me during a WDW trip. We had booked the trip and I found out later that I was pregnant. I was about 10 weeks along when we got there. I did check with my doctor - I forgot if your post said that you did.

The funny thing was that I NEEDED the nap in the afternoon, not my 5 year old. So we stoppped back at WL midday and I took a 20 minute nap. Sometimes, my husband would take my daughter to the pool during this time.

Other tips, keep hydrated and try to keep a slow pace. It not worth pushing it in the heat.

Congratulations to you and best wishes on your new addition, I hope you all have a wonderful time.

BTW, when my son (the pregnancy) was little and asked to go to Disney, we always told him that "he was already there - he just didn't remember!" LOL

Thanks for the pregnancy tips. I'm newly pregnant too and have two Disney trips planned during my pregnancy. The first will be at the start of my second trimester so I'm expecting that one to be relatively easy since I should be feeling really good by then. Actually I'm feeling pretty good now, but I'm just in my 7th week. But the second trip I'll be in my 7th month and I know I'll have to take it much more slowly. I know I'll be at the resort pool more that trip than walking around the parks! But I love the pool areas anyway.

Good luck to all the other mom's-to-be at the parks!! :)

The Unofficial Guide also has a section on which attractions, etc. can be safely done while pregnant and it is rather nicely written.

You needn't purchase an Unofficial Guide to refer to this section -as this section on doing WDW while pregnant has been in the Guide for several years now. You could quite likely get it from the public library.

I was 32 weeks in May 2002 when we made our 4th trip to the world (in as many years).

I second the recommendations to drink plenty of water and to get enough rest.

The OP probably won't have this problem, but by the third trimester I was tired of carrying that belly around (and I was ALL belly) and the pools were a GREAT way to take a load off.

Remember also, that your second trimester is supposed to be when you have the most energy. :)
